Some brilliant coverage appearing already including BBC News. If you'd like to find out more about NMITE do get in touch.
On Tuesday I was in Hereford to support our client NMITE during the visit of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness explored NMITE’s Centre for Advanced Timber Technologies (CATT) and had the opportunity to witness their unique, hands-on approach to engineering education. During his visit, The Duke met with both Integrated Engineering BEng and MEng students, as well as Foundation Year students, who demonstrated their skills in projects such as constructing a Da Vinci Bridge. It was also wonderful to see members of NMITE’s first intake of students, the Pioneers, now making a positive impact in the workplace, alongside representatives from NMITE’s Retrofit programme and TED short courses. The Skylon Campus, home to CATT, is a model of sustainable timber construction, serving as both a “Living Lab” and a beacon of innovation, having already won the Construction Excellence Social Impact Award. A big thank you to Hereford Times, Your Herefordshire, Hits Radio and #HerefordBID for attending. #Engineering #Education #Sustainability #Innovation #TimberConstruction #RoyalVisit #NMITE

🚀Highlights of London Tech Week for us so far: Great to have two of our clients talking about their experiences of launching into the UK market at Department for Business and Trade event ‘Scaling your business from the UK’. Alan Dormer from Opturion told his story about Opturion’s work in Chile which certainly resonated with the LATAM delegation. Jim Gastle, P. Eng from Terrifio - Virtual Patent Marking Platform combined a pitch to the audience about protecting their IP when going into the US via Virtual patent marking with a ringing endorsement of our years working together. They’re now heading off to Australia and Canada respectively. Thanks to Elizabeth Varley and Tony Hughes where our MD Joanna Dodd spoke about networking and benefits of PR profile when launching in the UK. Today we’re visiting Olympia to meet up with a few more friends and new contacts. Get in touch if you want to grab a coffee! #ltw2024 #networking #olympia #speaking

With London Tech Week fast approaching and attracting international brands eager to explore the opportunities in the UK, Brent Hoberman’s article in today’s The Times provides compelling insights into Britain's rapidly evolving tech landscape. Don’t know which is stronger comment or article! Here's a summary of the key takeaways from Brent's piece: 🖊 Wayve's Funding Round: The recent funding round secured by Wayve has can propel the UK into a leading position in AI and cutting-edge technology. 🖊 Significance of the Deal: This landmark deal, the largest AI venture round in Europe, highlights how Britain can capitalise on its strengths in emerging industries like AI, robotics, quantum computing, defence technology, and biotech. 🖊 The Role of the London/Cambridge Base and other Geographic clusters : Wayve’s success is partly attributed to its London/Cambridge base, which provides access to a supportive tech ecosystem, skilled talent, and an advantageous regulatory environment. Other geographic clusters, like King's Cross (home to the Francis Crick Institute, Wayve, and Google DeepMind), create a fertile ground for collaboration and knowledge sharing. 🖊 Supportive Universities: The UK's vibrant tech ecosystem is bolstered by world-class universities that foster innovation. Both Wayve and Onfido emerged from such environments, with Cambridge and Oxford, respectively. 🖊 Partnerships are key: Partnerships between established corporations and start-ups are key. And Brent says we should find ways to make it easier to forge these connections. 🖊 As he summarises: “I hope that Wayve acts as a beacon to other international founders, to show how a once contrarian approach can attract the world’s best brains and capital, and how the UK can focus on technology opportunities and encourage broader entrepreneurship across the country to drive more growth”. We agree - there is tremendous opportunity for international businesses in the UK market, with its thriving tech ecosystem, government support, and corporate partnerships. Watch this space for our upcoming event during London Tech Week with partners Department for Business and Trade, The JMB Partnership and Burges Salmon LLP, where we will help companies understand and seize the opportunities available in the UK market. Times change, markets evolve, but one principle remains steadfast: to make a tangible impact, particularly in the bustling UK market, your startup must speak up and stand out. We’ve heard the “don’t bother” argument for many years but we disagree. Our MD, Joanna Dodd penned a piece focused on how to ensure your start up is getting noticed in the UK which was featured in Startups Magazine Survival Guide 2023-24. Titled "PR-ing Your Startup: Why You Should and What You Can Do," the article is a testament to the enduring power of PR in the dynamic world of startups. Joanna navigates through the essentials of crafting a narrative that resonates in a market where media attention is crucial. She emphasises that even as the digital age transforms the how of communication, the fundamental why remains unaltered: to connect, engage, and leave an indelible mark on your audience. Explore Joanna's insights for enduring strategies that can help your startup's voice rise above the noise.
