Today Rolls-Royce is proud to celebrate the opening of a new office for Submarines colleagues in Glasgow, creating 120 jobs in the region. The new office located at Airport Business Park was opened by Rt Hon Maria Eagle MP, Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry. The Glasgow office was selected to help access the skilled talent pools in the region and will create specialist roles in electrical controls and instrumentation and cyber security. These colleagues will work on the Dreadnought programme, supporting the Royal Navy fleet of nuclear submarines, and the future AUKUS programme. Our Power Systems business is developing new and advanced submarine engine and automation concepts to help navies meet the growing challenges of underwater defence. Around 1,500 engines and systems as well as thousands of components are overhauled, repaired or remanufactured in our Reman centres every year. In particular, our mtu PowerPacks for railcars and Series 2000 and 4000 engines used in trains or gensets are completely overhauled, fully refurbished and then reused in a standardised process that delivers long-term reliability for our customers and huge environmental benefits.
