It's been 7 months since I launched Rotation Real Estate (RRE), and it has been a learning experience on so many fronts, both personally and professionally. To mark the occasion, I reluctantly agreed to appear on my first podcast—People, Property, Place with Matthew Watts—which, I ended up thoroughly enjoying! During the episode, we discussed how I got into real estate, my early career moves, and, more recently, my time at Ballymore and especially Blackstone, together with the catalyst for starting my own business. A huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to meet with us, talk with us, and, most recently, transact with us. Your support is really appreciated, and we look forward to continuing the dialogue!   And for those looking to set up their own business, here are some findings and insights, most of which I’m still trying to wrap my head around! ▪ Imposter syndrome is constant. Use it to push forward and challenging yourself. ▪ Working relationships can be fickle and fleeting. Focus on those who recognise and support where you're trying to get to, not just where you’ve come from. ▪ Seek external advice. Don't think you can, or should, carry it all on your shoulders. ▪ Celebrate the small wins. Foundations for growth come in small steps, rarely a single leap. ▪ Don't obsess over business plans until you have a business. Flexibility and adaptability are critical when navigating new terrain. ▪ Be humble and remain present. It can be overwhelming at times but focus on controlling the inputs and try surrendering to the outcomes. ▪ Embrace the adventure. If you can't enjoy it, why keep doing it?

When setting up a new business, arguably one of the biggest risks is a) attracting the right people and b) ensuring they connect both professionally and personally. Six months into our journey at Rotation Real Estate, all five of us took a few days away together. While we spent a couple of hours discussing the business, our personal aspirations, and considerations, the best part was simply spending time with colleagues. In our opinion, human interaction and truly getting to know your colleagues outweigh the typical "strategy session" rule book!
