Last week RASE and Innovation for Agriculture were delighted to welcome a group of farmers for a Farm of the Future study tour in Hampshire. The tour was jam-packed full of examples of how farmers are putting sustainable solutions into practice and plenty of opportunity for attendees to discuss the innovations they saw and heard about. Highlights included: 🌠 A visit to Newhouse Farm to see where Andy Bason’s ambition to learn and always do things better has taken the farm business 🌱 Finding out about the Selborne Landscape Partnership, which over the last 10 years has involved 27 farmers and conservationists who have been establishing wildlife corridors at a landscape scale 👩🌾 A visit to Newlyn’s Farm Shop, which employs 100 staff, with 80% of turnover coming from home produce. Here we heard Amy Janaway share insight into some of the challenges and opportunities associated with retail diversification There are a couple of spaces for this week’s study tour in Yorkshire, so head to our website to find out more if you’re interested in attending a similar event in the north. #FarmOfTheFuture

Should small-scale, low-emission gas fuels be part of future farm planning as we move away from red diesel? Last week, we hosted over 60 attendees at Askham Bryan College to discuss the role of biomethane and hydrogen in farming’s low-carbon future. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible whether by speaking, demonstrating technologies or providing all the behind-the-scenes support that made it happen. It was fantastic to start the conversation around future farm fuels and it will be exciting to see how these opportunities develop over the coming months and years.
