  • We are proud to announce the opening of our brand new, purpose-built Nuclear Therapy Centre in Sutton. The centre has four new treatment rooms, each with its own unique design and facilities, allowing us to provide treatment for more patients than ever before. With the opening of the Nuclear Therapy Centre, it is now possible to deliver an innovative therapy called Lutetium-177 PSMA (Lu PSMA). The therapy is used to treat castration resistant prostate cancer. It works by reducing the tumour size, while helping to improve the symptoms the tumours might cause. Jude Lucas, Divisional Director for Clinical Services, said: “The Royal Marsden is one of the largest and most experienced Nuclear Medicine Therapy centres in the UK, with over 10 years’ clinical experience in providing a wide range of therapy services, including Lu PSMA. Therapy is managed and administered by our highly specialised multidisciplinary team who work together to ensure patients receive optimum treatment and care. “We are extremely proud to now be opening our brand new, purpose-built Nuclear Medicine Therapy Centre in Sutton. Patients will enjoy peace and quiet whilst receiving treatment in a relaxing environment. The new centre also enhances the hospital’s nuclear medicine capacity, allowing us to treat more patients.” Our multidisciplinary Nuclear Medicine team is made up of consultant clinicians, specialised Nuclear Medicine nurses, Nuclear Medicine technologists and Nuclear Medicine physicists. The team work together to ensure the best treatment and care for our patients. Find out more: https://bit.ly/3Ou8WfF

  • Finding lung cancer early means that treatment is far more likely to be successful. Yet only around half of patients with lung cancer receive their diagnosis at an early stage. Our fast-tracked lung health screening service aims to detect lung cancer early and increase survival rates. Patients’ lung cancer risk will be assessed by Dr Richard Lee, our Champion for Early Cancer Diagnosis and Consultant Respiratory Physician. Those with an identified risk of lung cancer will be given a low-dose CT scan, usually the same day, and will receive their results within two weeks.
