Kingboard Qianhai Tower reaches its peak; with the façade not far behind! First look at the installation of the tower’s two-tier shading louvres on its west façade. Standing at 232m high, an expressed structure, rear core, and sky garden levels bring articulation, breaking up the design’s massing. Richard Paul, Director, RSHP: “The Kingboard Tower in Qianhai, Shenzhen, has reached a significant milestone, having recently topped out. The project now enters a transformative phase, as the shaded west-facing façade continues to rise from the lower levels. It’s wonderful to see the meticulous attention to detail and precision demonstrated by the dedicated team bringing this ambitious project to life.” Benjamin Warner, Managing Director, RSHP Asia: “The topping out of Kingboard Qianhai Tower, marks yet another important and exciting step for RSHP in Shenzhen. Generating an interesting interplay with the adjacent and already completed RSHP’s Innotech campus. Its dynamic structure and crystalline facade will add yet another jewel to the thriving region of Qianhai. RSHP sincerely thanks our client for their continued support in making what will be a truly breathtaking landmark.” Check out the final design visuals here: https://lnkd.in/eJchhATy And, while on our website, learn more about its low-rise neighbour: Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Entrepreneurship Zone (formerly Innotech): https://lnkd.in/evC8gfK5 #Qianhai #Shenzhen #RSHPChina #ShenzhenArchitecture #Onsite #ToppingOut #RSHP

Last week, on a stunning winter afternoon, #GrahamStirk, Tracy Meller, Jack Evans-Newton and Maurice Brennan, attended the topping-out ceremony for the first of five buildings at Regent’s View Bethnal Green. This structural milestone is an exciting step in our journey with St. William (Berkeley Group Plc) to transform a brownfield site into 550 new homes, regenerating a previously inaccessible corner of Bethnal Green, while preserving the historic gasholder frames. Speaking about how the gasholder re-development will define the local area, Jack Evans-Newton, Associate Partner and Project Lead, commented: “The buildings will echo the original gas storage tanks, with the existing gasholders frames as dominant features that will continue to define the area’s industrial heritage. Historic footprints guide the placement of buildings, set within a 0.6-hectare public space featuring parkland, gardens, play spaces, and open embankment areas. New cafes, affordable workspaces, and leisure spots at ground level, aim to foster a vibrant community for Regent’s View and nearby Bethnal Green.” #Gasholders #LondonHomes #NewDevelopment #ToppingOut #NewHomes

We are delighted to announce that Anzac Station has already earned a design award before its official opening! The Australian Steel Institute (ASI) has honoured the project with Best Small Building in the region of Victoria and Tasmania. ‘An excellent piece of craftsmanship and fabrication – wonderful recognition for Anzac Station. The vibrant paintwork on the steel harmonises with the warmth of the wood, bringing these two juxtaposed elements together as a singular pure elegant form, which is at one with the two park areas that it connects.” Paul Thompson, Associate Partner, RSHP. Check out the station’s impressive steel work captured by Ivan Harbour and CYP at recent site visits. Recently unveiled by the Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Danny Pearson, we are pleased to share the new renders for City Square, part of the Metro Tunnel Project in Melbourne. The square will offer more spaces for events, retail and hospitality, along with new landscaping and artworks. Crews will soon start building the Town Hall Station entrance at the Collins Street end of City Square. Ivan Harbour, Senior Director, RSHP: “Town Hall station’s design draws passengers down to a cathedral-like ‘crypt’, a subterranean civic space echoing City Square above. A steel and glass canopy provides a protected meeting place at the end of the square.” Town Hall Station, one of the five new state-of-the-art underground train stations opening next year – will transform the way people move around Melbourne forever. Remembering John Prescott: ‘His ideas always packed a punch’ John McElgunn #OpinionPiece | Architects’ Journal Championing Modern Methods of Construction Prescott’s advocacy for MMC reflected his forward-thinking approach to construction. He recognised that prefabrication and modular techniques could deliver high-quality, energy-efficient housing at scale, addressing both housing shortages and carbon emissions. RSHP’s YMCA project highlighted these principles, offering a model for sustainable and affordable housing. These efforts were part of Prescott’s broader push for innovation in urban planning. By emphasising collaboration between policymakers, architects, developers and charities, he sought to embed sustainability into the fabric of urban regeneration. His work encouraged architects to explore cutting-edge solutions that addressed both the social and environmental dimensions of urban living. A global perspective: The Kyoto Protocol On the international stage, Prescott was a key figure in the negotiations for the Kyoto Protocol. As the UK’s lead negotiator, he skilfully aligned European Union priorities with global targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The 1997 treaty, which set legally binding emissions reduction targets, marked a milestone in international climate governance. Remembering John Prescott, Ivan Harbour, Architect and Senior Design Director, RSHP. "John Prescott’s vision for sustainable cities bridged policy and architecture, inspiring transformative projects like the £60,000 Home Challenge that has directly led to successive governments’ drive to recognise Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) as a truly sustainable solution to our housing needs. His commitment to innovation and collaboration showed how urban regeneration and his leadership in the Kyoto Protocol can create a lasting social and environmental impact." Prescott’s vision for urban regeneration developed with the Urban Task Force in 1998, chaired by Richard Rogers. The Task Force addressed the decline of British cities by advocating for sustainable urban living. Their seminal report, Towards an Urban Renaissance (1999), emphasised compact city design, mixed-use developments, green spaces and public transport. 📷 John Prescott with Richard Rogers on a visit to the Preston Road Estate, Hull, 21st May, 1999 #RichardRogers #JohnPrescott #UrbanTaskForce #MMC #KyotoProtocol

We bring uncommon thinking to building projects of all types and scales. Check out some of our ongoing and recently completed projects. No site is too constrained, or project too challenging, to unlock the social and commercial value hidden within it. We do difficult well, with solutions rooted in pragmatism and elevated by a shared passion for design that places the experiences of people first. Globally, our team ethos is to deliver impactful and uplifting architecture that leaves our cities and built environments better than we found them. Congratulations to John McElgunn who recently received the honour of the 'Freedom of the City of London' in the Chamberlain's Court at the Guildhall, City of London Corporation. “I have been fascinated by the history and tradition of the City of London since my first visit in the 90’s. As an architect, I love the mixture of ancient churches and lanes side by side with the brutalist masterpiece of the Barbican, Leadenhall Market and modern office buildings. Being welcomed into this tradition has been a joy and I know I am in good company both past and present.” John McElgunn #FreemanofTheCity The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects Temple Bar London #CityofLondon

Onsite: RSHP’s latest Shenzhen tower nears completion Located at the heart of Shenzhen’s International Centre for Commerce and Innovation, RSHP’s latest tower is on track for completion in mid-2025. Named the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Integrated Service Centre, the 45-storey tower stands 212 metres tall in the Futian Free Trade Zone, just south of Shenzhen’s central business district. Open, welcoming, and dramatic, the 96,000m² building adopts a butterfly configuration of curved east and west office wings between which colourful scenic elevators will offer breathtaking views of the city. The south side of the tower will connect to a six-level retail and cultural podium with over half of its roof transformed into richly planted public gardens. Richard Paul, Director, RSHP: “The composition of the tower is elegantly poised above the interlocking podium, commanding a key position adjacent to both metro and bus station connections. Open and welcoming, the building celebrates its connectivity with the broader public realm and the park to the east, where the landscape and public access flow seamlessly over the roof of the podium.” Benjamin Warner, Director, RSHP Asia : “It has been wonderful working on this dramatic contribution to the Shenzhen skyline; a true reflection of our client’s desire to celebrate the cooperation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen with this stunning landmark.” Discover more about the design: https://lnkd.in/djtVjXkK Client: SZCK Development Co.
