Animal welfare charity covering Croydon Borough, Balham & Tooting, we are there for every animal in our locality.
About us
We are an animal welfare charity based in South London. Our mission is to be there for all animals in our locality. We take in rescue cats & rabbits, provide welfare assistance to pet owners who may be struggling with vet bills, help in small wildlife rescues, assist the RSPCA inspectors, and provide discounted neutering and microchipping for dogs, cats & rabbits. We currently operate four shops (Caterham, Croydon, Crystal Palace & Tooting) and employ an Animal Welfare Officer and a Branch Manager. We would love to hear from you if you could support us in any way such as being a corporate sponsor, fundraiser, shop volunteer, cat or rabbit fosterer. We would also welcome donations of goods to any of our shops or a financial donation via our Just Giving site. You can find out more details on our website.

Does your pet suffer with hayfever? It often develops over a number of years in cats and dogs, starting out small and causing a more severe reaction each time pollen is ingested. So, if you're able to spot the signs and get a diagnosis from your vet early on, you may be able to alleviate your companion's symptoms before they worsen

Our next free cat microchipping day will take place at our Tooting shop, 71/73 Upper Tooting Road SW17 7TW on 5th June from 11-3. Our lovely Animal Welfare Officer Cheska would love to see you and your cat on the day. It will be a legal requirement from 10th June for all cats to be microchipped. No booking necessary, just turn up with your cat in an appropriate carrier between 11 and 3. Chipping is totally free, though any donation would be most welcome. Please share this post with your contacts and take a look at our website at https://lnkd.in/dRsS2sgv for more information about us.

RSPCA Branches are amazing, providing frontline animal welfare care in partnership with RSPCA inspectors, animal rescue officers and the caring public. We had a record year for rehoming in South London too, including what seemed to be a pregnant cat every month. We could not do this without our wonderful volunteers! A big issue we are seeing at the moment is expensive dentistry with rescue cats, cats signed over from owners who cannot cope, and requests to help with vet bills. On average each dentistry treatment costs over £500. Cat owners, please ensure your insurance covers dentistry. RSPCA pet insurance does - search RSPCA Pet Insurance for more details.
RSPCA statistics released to today show that RSPCA branches conduct: * 82 percent of our rehoming efforts * 90 percent of neutering operations * 75 percent of our welfare treatments * 67 percent of our intake (excluding wildlife) Branches also increased in their intake from Inspectorate, rehoming (2.1 percent increase), neutering (13.3 percent increase), and veterinary treatments (20.4 percent increase). RSPCA Manchester and Salford Branch year on year admit approx 90% of our animals from RSPCA inspectorate. We are proud to champion and invest in these precious animals.

How To Tell If A Bird Is Sick Or Injured: A bird's natural instinct is to not show signs of weakness, in order to help prevent it being targeted by predators. So it’s not always easy to tell if your pet bird or garden visitor is ill or not. By the time a bird begins to display symptoms of illness, it has likely been sick for several days to weeks. Recognise the subtle signs of illness before it is too late: link in the comments
