  • Last week, associate Jason Tang shared a briefing on 'switched at birth' cases following the BBC's report of two West Midlands women discovering their true identities after taking DNA tests. He has since been interviewed on BBC Radio West Midlands discussing how such cases come about and what victims might be able to expect in terms of compensation.   "These cases are extremely rare, but with the rise of genealogy websites, we will see more cases come to light in the future."   Listen via the link below: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eHiAEMCD

  • ⚽ Could Ted Lasso's AFC Richmond have benefitted from expert legal advice? Had they been looking to 'tackle' the world of sports law, Russell-Cooke could have offered trusted advice on everything from contracts and player negotiations to governance and dispute resolution. And with offices in Kingston and Putney, as well as a meeting room in Richmond, we’d be in a prime position to support a team like AFC Richmond. In this blog, third-seat trainees Sophie Lindsay and Will Talbot-Davies explore how some of their favourite Ted Lasso characters might have benefitted from the emerging sports law services we provide. • As wreaths are laid at the Cenotaph this Remembrance Sunday, we honour all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.   80 years ago this year, Simon Russell Cooke, grandson of our founder and an RAF pilot, was shot down in 1944 at just 20 years old. His name lives on at the Runnymede Memorial.   We will remember them.

  • The adoption sub-group of the Public Law Working Group published a report this week which takes a close look at how the model of adoption has evolved over the years and suggests areas for reform. Children law partner Sarah Richardson, who has been a member of the group since its inception, comments: “These working groups are such an important part of working in children law. It was an honour to work with such a dedicated and talented group of individuals from across the sector, each one committed to improving the system for children and their families just as we are here at Russell-Cooke. It remains to be seen what legislative changes are effected as a result of the recommendations contained within the report.” Read more at the link below: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dmqFZ8uw
