🌱 𝒓𝒖𝒖𝒎𝒊.𝒊𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆-𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈! 🌾✨ Overseeding in farming is the practice of sowing seeds directly into the existing soil or crop without tilling or disturbing the soil significantly. This method is commonly used to improve the density and health of a crop, enhance soil quality, or introduce new varieties of plants into an existing system. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬: 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 🌱 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞-𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠? 🌾 In a nutshell: 🌱 Overseeding is adding seeds to an existing crop or grass mix, without changing much of the overall type - aiming to improve density or germination of certain seed mixes. For example: overseeding herbal ley mixes to certain parts of the field where there is bald spots. 🌾 Re-seeding, on the other hand, involves sowing seeds in an area where the original plants have been removed or significantly thinned. It could also change the overall type completely. For example: re-seeding from rye grass to herbal ley mix. With ruumi.io, farmers can now distinguish between the two activities, enhancing farm data quality and paving the way for better measurement of inputs and outputs! 🌾📊 Check it out and let us know what you think!

Earlier this year, I shared a series of posts about how ruumi.io is unlocking MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) use cases by leveraging high-quality ground truth data from farmers 🌾, paired with cutting-edge technologies like satellite imagery 🛰️ and our custom corporate portal for supply chain management https://lnkd.in/dqYUTA5A. Today, we’ve transformed our grazing app into a full-fledged farmer app with exciting new features: 1️⃣ Manage grass and arable field types, including re-seeding https://lnkd.in/dYcxQH5p, https://lnkd.in/dr3Wjfa6 2️⃣ Record fertilizer usage https://lnkd.in/d-jt8sXW 3️⃣ Track field preparation activities before fertilizing or planting crops https://lnkd.in/d6rFF2mt 4️⃣ Log purchases of animal feed and how much is given to different groups https://lnkd.in/dvSt8cXT 5️⃣ Record yields from animals (meat & milk), crops, hay, and grass cuts https://lnkd.in/duHB2HP3 These features enable farmers to track inputs and outputs, helping them optimize their operations. With regenerative farming principles, they can reduce inputs and costs while maintaining yields. And how do we prove it works? With data 📊, of course! 𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝑹𝑽 𝒇𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒏? At ruumi.io, we don’t take things at face value. We’re investigative 🔍 and look for proof where possible. When working with companies on their supply chain data, we apply multiple layers of verification to ensure accuracy. That’s where MRV comes in. For example: - Want to incentivize extended grazing seasons? We use our Grazing Fingerprint to show it’s happening with confidence https://lnkd.in/dKmFkf2b - Working to combat soil erosion? Our Soil Erosion Monitor helps track risk areas and progress https://lnkd.in/d8T9eKRN With farm input/output data combined with MRV, we help farmers transition to regenerative practices, all while keeping their businesses profitable 💡. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕? We’ve made amazing progress, but this is just the beginning! We're excited to unlock more MRV use cases and continuously improve our farmer app to better serve our farmers 🙌. Have a use case that could benefit from our capabilities? Let’s chat! 💬

𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬! 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐮𝐮𝐦𝐢.𝐢𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐛 𝐚𝐩𝐩 🌾 In addition to tracking re-seeding https://lnkd.in/daVSVks5, fertilization https://lnkd.in/d-jt8sXW, and yields https://lnkd.in/duHB2HP3, farmers can now easily record feed purchases and feeding events on our platform. This helps farmers keep tabs on feed inventory, make timely stock decisions, and gain insights into how feed impacts animal growth and milk production—essential for running a profitable farm! 🐄 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌? In ruumi.io Inputs & Outputs section, farmers could record the purchase of Hay bale, Haylage, Silage, Grain and Concentrated feed. On the other hand, farmer could record feeding events, where those stored feeds are given to animals to eat. Is there anything else you'd like to see on ruumi.io? Drop your ideas in the comments, and let’s make farm management even more efficient together! 💡

Great news for #livestock farmers! Now, you can manage both arable fields and pastures using the ruumi.io app Farmers, we've listened to your feedback: many of you manage both pasture fields and arable fields where you grow crops like maize, wheat, and potatoes to support your livestock operations. As sustainable farming practices like holistic management and regenerative agriculture gain traction, it's clear that a successful and sustainable farming business must leverage its land in complementary ways. As FEFAC notes in this article https://lnkd.in/d8JV_PsG, “In addition to pastures, livestock farming relies on arable land for crops for fodder and feed production.” Utilizing diverse land types, especially those unsuitable for arable farming, for livestock can offer the best of both worlds. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒖𝒖𝒎𝒊.𝒊𝒐 𝑨𝒑𝒑? Farmers can now add new fields on ruumi.io, specifying whether they are arable or pasture and detailing the type of field. Our satellite and radar model provides map visualizations to show field density, and with the image diary feature https://lnkd.in/djhDnDrf, farmers can add visual notes over time to track changes and progress. 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑰𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕? Soon, farmer will be able to add harvest events for these fields and record crop and straw yields. Additionally, they will be able to track milk and meat production from your livestock. This comprehensive data will give ruumi.io farmers better insights into their farm outputs. Stay tuned for more details in an upcoming post! Check out the ruumi.io web app today and share your feedback with us! #Farming #FarmManagement #Innovation #AgTech #Agritech #RotationalGrazing #FarmOutputs #FarmerApp #SustainableFarming #RegenerativeFarming #Arable #Feed #GrazingApp

Grazing Fingerprints is such a powerful idea! Check this out from our #Grassland and #Livestock #MRV tiger team 🔆

View profile for Michael Krasnyk, graphic

    MSSE @ The Exploration Company

At ruumi.io we’re introducing Grazing Fingerprints to simplify reporting on #Grassland and #Livestock management demonstrating the overall grazing activities on a farm at a glance. The ruumi platform brings transparency into grassland and livestock supply-chains in real-time. Balancing feed supply and demand throughout the grazing season is complex: that’s why we are always striving towards simplifying our reporting on those farm activities. The grazing activity results in a unique Grazing Fingerprint for every animal group as each farm is unique and grazing patterns change from season to season. Each fingerprint tells a story and gives us insights into how grazing management, grass types, breeds, fencing systems, climate and yield are connected. Here is how Grazing Fingerprints work (see image below): left to right you can see the calendar year; fields are color coded boxes with a unique color per field. The width of the boxes indicate the time animals have been grazing on that particular field. With this simple tool in place we can summarize and report grazing activities at a glance: 1. When has the grazing season started and ended in a year 2. On how many fields and for how long have animals been grazing outside 3. Has there been consistent and managed grazing in place over the year 4. How long is the rest period of fields to recover from grazing activities Grazing Fingerprints are a simple but powerful tool to show valuable insights at a glance. I’m proud to work on innovation such as Grazing Fingerprints at ruumi to simplify reporting on complex livestock and grassland supply chains.

Exciting Update for Farmers on ruumi.io! 🚜🌱 We’re thrilled to announce that farmers can now track their 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 and 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐲 usage during re-seeding events on ruumi.io! This new feature, inspired by the invaluable feedback from our farmer community from the existing feature https://lnkd.in/dYcxQH5p, allows you to select multiple machines and log the fuel consumption for your re-seeding activities. Our system will then automatically calculate and store the fuel usage per field and hectare, providing you with detailed insights. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐔𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞? ⛽ With the rising costs of diesel and other fuels, recording fuel usage has become crucial for managing farm expenses https://lnkd.in/gmjpgkMN. According to the UK’s Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, fuel, particularly red diesel, is a major energy expense for farms. But it’s not just about costs. Diesel and gasoline contribute significantly to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. By monitoring these, ruumi.io can help you calculate your carbon footprint and develop strategies to minimize fuel consumption, supporting more sustainable farming practices. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭? 🌾 This is just the beginning! Soon, farmers will be able to capture fuel and machinery usage across a variety of farming activities, including fertilizing, harvesting, and field preparation. For now the feature is available on iOS, and we’re making it available on Web and Android too. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance your farming experience with ruumi.io! #Farming #FarmManagement #Innovation #AgTech #RotationalGrazing #Reseeding #FarmInputs #FarmOutputs #FarmerApps #SustainableFarming #RegenerativeFarming #Fuel #Machineries
