Transforming Lives by providing solutions to homelessness and enabling people to develop their full potential
About us
We provide accommodation for people to develop their personal talents and help them to access services and resources to gain employment and live independently. We adopt an advantaged thinking approach that focuses on people's talents and future potential rather than past problems. We work with residents to meet their 'whole' needs - physical, mental, moral and spiritual.

A hot shower and cup of tea will never solve homelessness, but it makes a world of difference to someone forced to sleep rough. - Free debt advice, addiction services and work placements are just some of the things we offer to prevent and/or help people out of homelessness. But our crisis services (such as temporary accommodation, hygiene drop-ins, and a ready brew) can be just life-saving.

We're providing emergency beds and outreach support, alongside councils and other organisations, to prevent people from dying of the cold on the streets. As part of the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP), we provide emergency beds at locations across England and Wales to help people, who would otherwise have to sleep on the streets, stay warm this winter. Our Deputy Director for Homelessness, Nathan Slinn, says: “In freezing temperatures, finding somewhere warm and safe to stay can be a matter of life or death for someone who is forced to live on the streets… Many of our community churches will also be opening their doors to offer a warm place to shelter from the cold as well as practical support such as hot food, clothing and a warm welcome.” (Note: While SWEP protocols don’t apply in Scotland, each council still makes its own emergency provision, with Salvation Army Lifehouse (hostel) spaces used by councils all year round as part of their emergency accommodation provision.) We are very pleased to share that we've been upgraded to G1 for governance by the Regulator of Social Housing! This reflects the strength of our governance framework and our commitment to being well run and transparent. While we remain financially strong, we recognise the challenges of delivering supported services in the current economic climate. Our C2 consumer grading highlights areas where we're improving and we're fully focussed on enhancing customer services and providing safe homes. A thank you to our parent organisation, The Salvation Army. By working together, we are better equipped to meet our social purpose and provide essential support to those who need it most.

We had an incredible time on Tuesday night, at the Royal Albert Hall, singing along with some of our amazing supporters at our annual Christmas carol concert! Firstly, we would like to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all our special guests who participated in the concert: Thank you to Jack Dee, Sally Dexter, Judy Cornwell and Paul Burrell for your Bible readings of different accounts of the nativity and thank you to our incredibly talented performers, Una Voce, Anais and Khaim Spencer, and Belinda Gifford-Guy as well as our Big Band, international staff band and our international staff songsters. Last but by no means least, thank you to everyone who attended our carol concert- we loved celebrating with you! For those who were not able to join us in person, a virtual carol concert will premiere on our Youtube channel this Sunday, 8 December at 6pm. https://brnw.ch/21wPdav (Photo credit: Paul Harmer)
