  • Dr. Sorrel Bickley, director of research at Sarcoma UK appeared on BBC East Midlands last night to discuss groundbreaking research developing a blood test for uterine sarcoma. This rare and hard-to-detect womb cancer is often mistaken for more common non-cancerous fibroid growths, delaying diagnosis. Hayley Brewer also shared her story of late detection. Her symptoms were initially misdiagnosed for fibroids and told her condition was "normal" and she was approaching the menopause. Now, new research, funded in part by Sarcoma UK, aims to speed up diagnosis and save lives. 🎥 Watch the segment on BBC iPlayer here: https://lnkd.in/e4BhEAnK (Starts at 2:56)

  • She might claim to 'hate' running, but Annabel will be taking on the London Marathon this year in support of her brother Charlie. 🏃♀️ Charlie, 27, was diagnosed last year with desmoid-type fibromatosis, a rare and aggressive tumour that affects just 1 in 200,000 people. His journey started after a rugby match left him with unexpected pain and swelling—what doctors later discovered was a 15cm tumour pressing against his kidneys. Annabel is running the marathon alongside close friend Olly, who is also raising money for Sarcoma UK.
