As solar power continues to expand and play a pivotal role in the transition to a sustainable energy future, addressing the end-of-life management of solar PV modules is crucial. ♻️ 👉In our latest article, we focus on prioritising the recovery, recycling, and repurposing of solar panel materials. Stakeholders - including manufacturers, installers, and funders - should embrace the principles of the circular economy and offer a practical and environmentally responsible path forward. This proactive approach not only minimises environmental impact but also reinforces the long-term viability and sustainability of solar technology, ensuring it remains a cornerstone in achieving Net Zero targets. 🌍 #NetZero #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #ReduceReuseRecycle

Look at that sunshine! ☀️ Here are some amazing pictures from one of our sites, where we’re currently working on a 1.9MW solar PV installation. This project is designed to meet the client’s energy needs while helping them achieve their sustainability goals.🎯 Large-scale projects, like this one, have many challenges and need a comprehensive approach and a skilled team to ensure that the project meets the highest standards while effectively managing site operations. They require careful planning that includes initial surveys, applying for permits, construction activities, and finally, the commissioning and handover of the project. 📩If you're thinking about solar energy for your business, reach out to our experts today to explore your options. #solarenergy #netzero #suustainability #renewables

📢Meet Rhodri Lewis, who joined the EDF Renewables Post-Graduation scheme and is currently supporting our Sales & Origination team. Rhodri is at the beginning of his career in renewables and solar PV, having graduated from university in 2022.🎓 During his time at university, he became fascinated by the Net Zero energy transition and the economic opportunities it presents. I volunteered at a community energy cooperative in 2023, specialising in rooftop Solar PV, and later worked there for a year. While focusing on fuel poverty alleviation, I also collaborated with the solar team, learning about technology and future projects. This experience deepened my desire to work in the sector, recognizing the connection between renewable energy, energy efficiency, fuel poverty, and our nation’s Net Zero goals. 🌱⚡ Outside of work, Rhodri enjoys a variety of sports, with surfing and tennis being his favourites. 🎾He is also a keen musician and has played in several bands in the past.♫ #ourpeople #sasenergy #whoweare

❄️It was snowing at some of our sites! While it may not be ideal for energy generation or works on-site, it is a stunning reminder of nature’s beauty. Sometimes, it’s important to pause, and appreciate the moment. #AppreciateTheMoment #NaturesBeauty #SolarSites

The Energy Landscape in the UK: Time for Change! 🔋🌍☀️ Did you know that the UK still relies on approximately 40% natural gas to generate power? This percentage can fluctuate based on seasonal demand and various other factors, but it’s clear that our reliance on gas is significant. Natural gas prices are closely linked to overall energy prices in the UK, and this connection has been a driving force behind electricity price hikes that can impact businesses across the country. In fact, British firms pay, on average, 60% more for electricity compared to their French counterparts, who benefit from a more stable energy source like nuclear. Right now, gas prices are spiking due to risk of Russia withholding supplies due to a ruling against the Kremlin controlled company Gazprom, causing the highest gas price in a year. This risk could send prices rising even further ultimately affecting operational costs of businesses. To mitigate these risks associated with gas dependency, it’s crucial for companies to turn towards renewables. One effective solution is onsite solar, which can help businesses achieve up to 30% self-sufficiency. This not only guards against price hikes related to gas but also buffers against uncertainties in other commodity markets. At SAS Energy, the solar arm of EDF Renewables, we specialise in designing, building, and maintaining these onsite solar systems. If capital expenditure is a concern, we also offer Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) funding options, allowing clients to harness solar energy without the need to use their own capital. Let’s secure a sustainable and cost-effective energy future together! 🌞💡 #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #EnergyPrices #Sustainability #EnergyIndependence #SASEnergy #EDFRenewables #Netzero
