Hearing protectors – often referred to as ‘hearing defenders’ – are used in a wide range of industries and situations where occupational limits for noise exposure are exceeded. In Europe, they fall within the scope of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation, so must be tested and CE-marked before being placed on the market. For more information, please visit https://lnkd.in/eC9uCPFU or contact the team at ppe@satra.com #hearing #protection #AnechoicChamber

  • SATRA’s Global Foot Dimensions report is the culmination of a four-year research project utilising 3D scanning technology to capture and assess thousands of feet in different regions across the globe. SATRA’s Global Foot Dimensions report aims to provide a core understanding of modern foot shape and highlights some of the differences present between a number of demographics. It is hoped that the openness and systematic explanation of the subject matter will become a benchmark for the industry for years to come, enabling manufacturers of footwear to offer a greater degree of fit and comfort to the end customer. The report disseminates a series of fundamental foot dimension statistics, including foot breadth, joint girth and instep girth, and aims to update the industry’s understanding of foot shape and sizing. Having found the probability distributions for the data and assessed it for how good the fit is against the ideal normal distribution, it is possible to check the percentage of the population that footwear will accommodate. This is an extremely useful statistic, both for calculating manufacturing numbers and optimising stock. For example, offering a large range of UK sizes one through 11 in average (‘D’) fitting accommodates only 24.5 per cent of UK women, and requires 11 items in store. By offering a reduced shoe size range and increased width fitting range, such as UK sizes five to seven in fitting ‘C’ to ‘E’, the population coverage rises to 47 per cent with nine items in store. • We are excited to announce that we have enhanced our testing capabilities with a new suite of equipment specifically designed to meet the requirements of the latest EN 407 standard. This upgrade ensures we remain at the forefront of safety testing, particularly in the critical area of protective gloves against thermal risks. The 2020 revision of EN 407 standard brought several key changes. These included updated requirements for contact heat, convective heat, radiant heat, small splashes of molten metal, and large quantities of molten metal. With the increased emphasis on improved safety and accuracy, the revised standard features more comprehensive testing parameters to provide reliable performance metrics for protective gloves. Our investment in upgraded test equipment is a commitment to helping our customers keep up-to-date with regulatory changes. With enhanced accuracy, efficiency, and data capture, our new suite is fully capable of testing all criteria outlined in EN 407:2020. This means you can trust SATRA to deliver precise and reliable results, assessing your products' compliance with the updated standard. We also offer testing for protective garments, utilising the same equipment to meet the requirements of the following standards: - EN ISO 14116:2015 - EN ISO 11611:2015 - EN ISO 11612:2015 - EN 469:2020 The experienced PPE team at SATRA is here to guide you through the testing process, helping you understand the demands of the relevant standards and what they mean for your products. In addition, we are a Notified Body for CE marking. If you would like to learn more about our testing and certification services, please contact us at ppe@satra.com or visit our website. https://lnkd.in/d3hKpj4B We aim to ensure that you have the information and resources necessary to meet the latest safety requirements. #ppe #safety #gloves #EN407 #heat #flame #testing

Ozone is a naturally-occurring substance which can attack rubber and plastic products, causing deterioration and cracking. It can lead to product failures, rejected goods or even the expense and subsequent damage to a brand caused by product recalls. Rubbers, in particular, need to be specified, verified and validated to avoid ozone cracking. Manufacturers and other companies in the supply chain can take steps to avoid this risk by using an ozone test chamber to assess the resistance to ozone-induced cracking for the rubber used in the products they are bringing to market. SATRA manufactures, supplies, commissions, services and calibrates ozone test chambers for a wide global market. SATRA can help you to understand the requirements of REACH for your product or role in the industry. We also offer training, consultancy and testing. Investing in the next generation of footwear designers is crucial to driving innovation, and ensuring the future success of the industry. The footwear industry is facing a potential talent gap, with fewer young people choosing careers in design and craftsmanship. As the current generation of skilled professionals moves closer to retirement, it's more important than ever to attract and support fresh talent. Without proactive steps to bring young designers into the field, our industry risks losing valuable expertise and creative innovation that are essential for future growth. De Montfort University, in Leicester, UK, is inviting the footwear trade and industry to support their prestigious Footwear Design BA (Hons) course - inspiring the next generation of designers, and becoming a part of its legacy. The University is keen to offer scholarship opportunities to encourage students for whom finance is a barrier, to undertake the course and reduce the gaps in the workforce. Building a sustainable future for the footwear industry means prioritising succession planning and nurturing new talent today. By investing in young designers, shoemakers can ensure that their legacy of craftsmanship, creativity and innovation continues for years to come. Contact De Montfort University for further information. #design #skills #footwear
