We ❤️ Allied Health Professionals! It’s #AHPDay, and we’re proud to work alongside hundreds of AHPs every day. As a trusted imaging partner for osteopaths, physiotherapists, podiatrists, and more across the country, we’re grateful to work so closely with AHPs and share in their patients’ care journeys. We're also lucky enough to lean on the expertise of the fantastic radiographers at our partner scanning centres, and our own in-house clinical team—many of whom are AHPs. This year’s theme, Quality and Safety, highlights the vital role of the Allied Health Professions in delivering safe, high-quality care in our communities. We’re celebrating their impact and dedication today 👏 #AlliedHealthProfessionals #AHPday #AHPcommunity

We had an insightful time at the International Imaging Congress earlier this week, discussing the latest radiology innovations. Of course, we couldn't miss our very own Dr Lizzie Tuckey on the 'Faster Diagnosis, Better Care' panel. Our key takeaway: pathway innovation is crucial for improving patient accessibility and overall efficiency. 💡 10% of patients don't attend their scheduled NHS diagnostic appointments. We think providing more choice and flexibility is key to reducing no-shows—in fact, 33% of patients want to be able to choose their own appointments. 📅 While self-scheduling, location selection, and appointment automation technologies exist, including our own platform, public sector adoption still faces hurdles. 🌎 But, prioritising pathway innovation would reduce scanner downtime, patient travel, postal appointment letters, and the environmental impacts of all of these points. 🤖 On the clinical side, we also learned about AI's huge potential to speed up behind-the-scenes pathways, such as protocolling and triaging. We'll be sharing deeper dives into the changing role of technology in radiology soon, but for now, we'd like to thank our co-panellists, including representatives from AstraZeneca, Visit Health, Lifetrack Medical Systems, Teleradiology Solutions and the NHS, for such an engaging discussion ✨

🧠 Today is World Mental Health Day, and this year's theme focuses on prioritising mental health in the workplace. At Scan.com HQ, we're committed to making mental health a year-round priority—not just something we talk about today. But, talking is often the most important place to start, and today reminds us all to check in on those we work with. To support this, we’ve circulated a mental health cheat sheet across the team, ensuring everyone knows how to access our well-being resources. We’re proud to provide flexible working for appointments, school drop-offs, gym sessions, walking meetings, and longer lunches, as well as free talking therapy, tailored time off policies, and monthly well-being budgets. We’re also encouraging our team to share how they make time for their mental health. So far, our Slack has been filled with lots of life's little joys, from morning walks and yoga classes to pet cuddles, book recommendations, beach trips, and tips for unwinding after work. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAtWork

This National Work Life Week, we’re shining the spotlight on our People team and the policies and processes they’ve created to support our team’s work-life balance ⚖️ We recognise that life affects work in many ways—and that's OK. Our team is made up of working parents, lunchtime runners, therapygoers, and, most of all, real humans with real-life stuff to manage. From flexible working to mental wellness support, and parental leave to compassionate leave, we ensure we support our team through big life events and day-to-day life realities. We also believe in balance when it comes to finding the role of your dreams. Our hiring processes are designed to ensure landing a job with us doesn’t become a full-time job in itself! We clearly outline role expectations, define success, disclose the compensation range, and map out the hiring process—giving our candidates confidence in the time they invest in the interview process. Thanks to Clare Mullen, Samantha Bergquist Foshee, and Rhea Nana for sharing their work-life wisdom with us! ✨

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so let’s debunk some mammogram myths 🕵️♀️ Mammograms may not be fun, but they save lives—around 1300 annually in the UK. We want to encourage the 35% of women who skip screenings to feel more prepared to take the plunge.* ❌ Myth #1: Mammograms are always painful. The truth is, discomfort varies by person and can be worse the week prior to your period, so plan your scan accordingly. Mammograms might be a little uncomfy, but they only take a few minutes and are worth it for peace of mind. ❌ Myth #2: Getting recalled means you have cancer. Only around 4% of people will get recalled for further tests after a mammogram to investigate their results. Don't let this put you off—the reason could be as simple as the images weren't quite clear. Less than 1% of mammograms end up finding cancer. ❌ Myth #3: Screenings stop at age 71. 1 in 3 breast cancer cases occur in the over 70's. While you won't automatically get invited for NHS screenings after age 70, you can still request a mammogram every 3 years, or book private screenings on an annual basis. ❌ Myth #4: You can only get screened from age 50, every 3 years. We offer early mammograms from age 40, and you can have them done annually. But, it's important to remember to see your doctor ASAP if you notice something's not right—don't wait for your next screening to come around. Want to learn more about mammograms? Check the link in comments 👇 *Department of Health and Social Care, 2023.
