Last night we hosted the 11th and final Investor-Founder Mixer of 2024 with a dinner centred around oncology therapeutics, in collaboration with Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst. Around the table we had six entrepreneurs from the #BioEntrepreneurClub, including a number of Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst tenants, alongside six investors from the #BioCapitalNetwork - all either building or investing in oncology therapeutic companies. 💸 Attending investors from Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, Cancer Research Horizons, Delin Ventures, RYSE, Syncona Limited and Zinc (and me from CPI Enterprises Limited) Attending companies: 🔗 Antikor Biopharma Ltd - developing antibody Fragment Drug Conjugates (FDCs) to enable next-generation ADC therapies for solid tumours 🦠 Bioarchitech Ltd - developing intravenous oncolytic viruses and intratumoural self-amplifying RNA neo-adjuvant immunotherapies 💉 Genevation LTD - developing personalised mRNA cancer vaccines via genomics, in vitro transcription and immuno-oncology 🍐 Pear Bio - developing combination oncology therapies leveraging proprietary 3D cell culture models, multi-omic analysis and target identification 🛡️ Vaso Dynamics - developing topical therapeutics for the protection of skin, mucosa and hair to prevent common complications of cancer therapies including mouth ulceration, dermatitis and hair-loss 🥷 And a stealth-mode company who shall remain nameless! This week on the #InnovatorsClub, Olaf Swanzy from PNO Consultants Ltd (UK) delivered a session on how to approach and secure grant funding, sharing his expertise and top tips from submitting hundreds of applications with life science start-ups. 💸 During the session, Olaf provided a deep dive in to a range of grant opportunities available from funding bodies such as Innovate UK, NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), European Commission (EIC, Horizon, Eureka), SBRI Healthcare and others. 🫶 As an invaluable source of non-dilutive funding, these top tips are incredibly useful for our Cohort V founders as they look to grow their companies.
