💡 The SCL Digital Media Group are seeking new members to join their committee!
The function of the group is to provide thought leadership on the interaction between computers and the media. This includes audio (radio), audio-visual (TV), magazines, newspapers, books, content aggregators, blogs, social media and other forms of UGC.
The group also aims to enhance SCL's reputation and influence in the media sector; providing 'added value' to SCL members with an interest in this area; and helping to inform the SCL committee on key media developments.
The groups activities includes:
• Responding to, and commenting on, law reform proposals
• Writing articles, blog posts etc.
• Sponsoring and hosting events with leading speakers
• Identifying new legal issues for the sector
Sharing knowledge on:
• The law
• Market developments
• Business issues affecting the media sector
Areas of Interest include:
• Convergence
• Broadcast
• Regulation of Online Content
• Jurisdiction
❓ What are the expectations associated with this role?
Committee members are asked to help organise one event or initiative per year, which includes helping to source interesting topics, speakers, and venues. There will be a few events held throughout the year, but not every committee member is involved in organising each event. Therefore, the overall commitment is to help with one event/initiative per year.
Please only apply to be a Group Committee member if you think you can make a valuable contribution with your time and expertise. The committee will meet for up to 6 remote Committee meetings per year, which typically last for about 45 minutes to an hour.
