We recently worked with Tempo Tea Bar in Glasgow to create two low sugar functional syrups to provide their customers with the option to add a “calming” or energy “boosting” functionality to their bubble tea. The 4-month project included creating prototypes of the two syrups, testing out in standardised tea recipe, ensuring the syrups delivered the ideal flavour and texture profile. The company tasted prototypes through and provided feedback to drive development. The company received an information pack with all essential information required to scale-up the formulations and advise on next steps to launch the syrups. We hope Tempo Tea customers enjoy these new functional syrups in their bubble tea! Read our full case study: https://lnkd.in/ewvWGWtV Caroline Timmins. 👏Many congratulations to QMU's Catriona Liddle and Julien Lonchamp, who have secured one of two runner-up positions in this year's Converge Challenge Awards in the KickStart category! Catriona and Julien have secured £5,000 towards their groundbreaking PalmAlt project - a 100% replacement for palm oil-based shortening in bakery products using a combination of clean label ingredients. PalmAlt hopes to address critical sustainability issues in the food industry, as palm oil is currently used in 50% of UK grocery products despite its negative environmental impact. The PalmAlt solution, which includes all natural ingredients that can be produced in the UK and Europe, offers significant nutrition and sustainability benefits and has the potential to lower greenhouse gas emissions by reducing food miles and deforestation associated with palm oil production. The Converge Awards is an annual ceremony designed to celebrate and reward the pinnacle of Scottish academic innovation. At an event held in Edinburgh on 3rd October and attended by Kate Forbes, Deputy First Minister of Scotland, Converge presented 12 prizes to Scottish universities. Please join us in congratulating Catriona and Julien, and of course, all of the brilliant innovators who took part in this year's Converge Challenges.
