18 months ago, we launched a Scribe offering for Founders, to help them find investors with our data on private companies. This summer, we went one step further - helping fifty clients nearly every step of the way. We curated lists of investors, drafted messaging and automated it all with a third-party. Here's what we learned... 🤫 If you're early, soften the language. Pre-revenue businesses had more success asking for advice, but this still led to them getting investment. 🤝 Meetings are hard to get, but likely to result in an investment. The conversion from meeting to investment was very good. ✅ Investor selection matters more than outreach messaging. This is counterintuitive, but we saw no difference between personalised LinkedIn outbound and blank requests. Your message matters much less than who you're writing to. 🏥 It's easier for some industries. An obvious one, but some sectors struggle. Healthcare / B2B FinTech were best, while Consumer apps/snack brands were tougher. In all cases, the more traction, the less sector mattered. ✉️ LinkedIn is more effective than e-mail. E-mail does work, but LinkedIn is significantly better for investor outreach. 🖊️ Keep track, stay organised. The best Founders were the most organised. Fastest commitment was 7 days, and the average number of replies was 50 per campaign. Most meetings come from follow-ups.
