🌊Fish & Chip Education Day: A Day of Seafood Discovery!🐟 Last Tuesday, I had the pleasure of supporting Jamie Russo from the Redcloak Fish Bar in Stonehaven to host a Fish and Chip Education Day – a unique event for fish and chip shop owners and industry representatives. Jamie, who earlier this year visited the Norwegian fishing industry as part of his National Fish and Chip Awards 2024 win, wanted to bring a similar experience to his colleagues – this time highlighting the fantastic Scottish fishing industry. The day started with a tour of Peterhead Port Authority Fish Market, where we witnessed the morning activities and the fresh seafood on offer. We then had insightful presentations from National Federation of Fish Friers, Henry Colbeck, The Fish Works in Largs, and Seafood Scotland, where I provided an overview of the seafood industry in Scotland and why choosing Scottish fish is a great choice for fish and chip shops. The next stop was a fascinating tour of GT Seafoods Ltd, a leading whitefish processor in Peterhead, soon to undergo exciting expansion works. We ended the day with a lovely late lunch at The Ashvale in Aberdeen, where attendees had the chance to share thoughts from the day over a lovely plate of fish and chips...my gluten free haddock was fantastic! Feedback was incredibly positive, with many requesting similar events in the future for both fact-finding and networking. A huge thank you to Jamie for involving us in this fantastic initiative! Looking forward to more opportunities to connect and collaborate with the incredible Scottish seafood industry👏 #FishAndChips #SeafoodScotland
