🚨 Essential Tips for Safe Patient Transfers & Equipment! 🚨 At the 2023 Dublin Masterclass, Kirsty O'Connor, shared crucial insights on assessing client transfers and seating needs. Here are some key takeaways: 🔹 Observe, Don’t Assume – Always watch the transfer rather than relying solely on reports. Miscommunication can lead to incorrect equipment recommendations. 🔹 Consider Transfer Frequency – This is especially important for dementia patients who may experience distress during hoisting. Reducing unnecessary transfers can enhance their comfort. 🔹 Assess the Sling – Is it suitable for the client's weight and needs? In-situ slings can be beneficial for dementia patients to minimize handling. 🔹 Think Beyond Seating – What activities will the client do in the chair? Functional goals, like playing ping pong, should be part of the assessment! 🔹 Carer & Safety Considerations – Does the caregiver require a motorised or manual chair? Ensure safety in all recommended activities. 🔍 Every detail matters when it comes to ensuring comfort, safety, and independence. What’s your top consideration when assessing a patient transfer?👇💬 Check out our upcoming Masterclasses here: https://bit.ly/415Z4jw

Dearbhaile and Bronagh had a fantastic time with the team from Advanced Seating last week! It was a pleasure to meet some incredible Irish OTs, observe Seating Assessments firsthand, and even visit St Camillus Hospital. One standout moment was witnessing a lady get out of bed for the first time in over six months—thanks to the delivery of her new Seating Matters chair. It’s truly inspiring to see the life-changing impact our chairs have on patients' lives and the outstanding work being done by OTs and Advanced Seating Specialists. 👏👏 Michael Gus Flavin Mike Cleary Tom Murphy
