SeeSaw is a small independent Oxfordshire charity that provides grief support to children, young people and their families and/or carers. We provide information, advice, resources, consultations, training, support for schools, and face-to-face support sessions for children and young people, usually within their own homes. With appropriate information, and resources, most carers can manage the grief support needed by the children and young people in their charge, because they are the people who know them best. We offer telephone advice and tools to help family members and professionals, such as teachers, to be able to provide that support.
In circumstances where it might not be possible for families to provide that support themselves, we offer one-to-one grief support. This is provided by a clinical staff member, or a trained and supervised volunteer.
See Saw is a member of the Childhood Bereavement Network, a national organisation, where we share in new developments and contribute towards good practice. SeeSaw is also represented at Oxfordshire’s Child Death Overview Panel; the Rapid Response Team, which responds to the sudden deaths of under 18s; and Thames Valley Suicide Prevention and Intervention Network. At every opportunity, we strive to offer grief support to children and young people who are struggling to cope with a bereavement, and improve the information, advice, and support that is available to the families of Oxfordshire.
As Oxfordshire’s population continues to expand, we have seen a growing demand for our services, which SeeSaw provides free of charge.
