An inspirational coach who has helped people of all ages and disabilities to experience the joys of football was the winner of our Diversity and Inclusion Award, sponsored by Sefton Council, at the Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards last year. Who would you like to see honoured at The Grand Southport in April this year? Nominations are open here: https://bit.ly/3uPCvlM Last year’s winner, John Doran, was a founder member of the Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC that started with a handful of disabled and SEN children to include them in football. It has grown to over 300 kids and adults of all ages and all disabilities. John was presented with his award last year by Sefton Council Leader Cllr Marion Arkinson. One of his nominations said: “John does a lot of hard work unseen by helping the families with support, advice and company to just help. “He does it all voluntary and he has changed so many lives and he does a wonderful thing by just being him. “They have weekly footballing sessions and tournaments and even play in disability leagues helped set up by John and his team. “Putting so many hours to change and help people from underprivileged and challenged families is a great thing and one I would love to see him recognised for. I can’t explain enough what he has done for the people and families of Sefton.” The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards take place at The Grand Southport on 25th April 2025. The Awards are organised by Mikhail Hotel & Leisure Group and by Stand up For Southport.
