Built based on first-hand experience of caring for people with acquired brain injury, the software is a highly adaptable electronic health record (EHR) for use in any care setting, at any level of complexity. The software excels in cases of brain trauma, learning disability, chronic illness, and other cases where supported individuals require care over years or decades, either in residential care or at home. Total Care Manager can be used by any care provider, from paid or unpaid carers including family members, to care agencies, care homes and outpatient clients. • 📢Partners in Care and Health and Curators of Change are developing a guide for Principal Social Workers, Finance and Audit Managers and key decision makers, that aims to support people with ensuring that direct payments are more widely adopted and accessible to people with care and support needs. What are these workshops about? - To develop the guide we want to have a conversation with social workers, finance and audit workers, key decision makers, people who draw on care and support and their families. - The reason we want to have a conversation with people is so we can produce a guide that shares and builds on their knowledge and experience about what does and does not work well, what could be developed and improved and what people are doing now. - In particular we want to have a conversation with finance and audit workers, social workers and key decision makers in the context of direct payments, about how they work together. • The LDA Commissioners Network was founded to address the pressing need for a collaborative and innovative space dedicated to improving the commissioning of services for people with learning disabilities and autism. With the challenges in the sector becoming increasingly complex, we recognised the need for a platform where commissioners can come together to share ideas, learn from best practices, and take meaningful steps towards achieving better outcomes for individuals while ensuring the efficient use of public resources. Our guiding ethos is simple: saving money by doing the right thing. Founded by Christopher Watson and Ashleigh Fox, together, we bring complementary perspectives. Chris, with a commissioner’s strategic focus on systems change, and Ashleigh, with the practical insights of a service provider working directly to meet the needs of individuals and families. This partnership ensures that the LDA Commissioners Network not only addresses the technical aspects of commissioning but also remains grounded in the day-to-day realities of care delivery and the lived experiences of people who rely on these services. • The approach to funding and organising personal care and support services for citizens with disabilities, as outlined in the Care Act, emphasises providing people with more choice and control via the use of Personal Budgets. The two primary mechanisms to deliver a personal budget are Direct Payments and Individual Service Funds (ISFs). Both options aim to empower citizens by enabling direct involvement in the day-to-day management of their care, but the two options do differ slightly in their administration and overall flexibility.
