About us
A growing number of disputes in professional sport has highlighted the importance of specialist mediators for the sports industry in facilitating cost effective, timely and efficient alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms - a welcome alternative to complicated arbitration and costly litigation proceedings. Providing independent and informed guidance through a mediation process, the mediator is able to assist and facilitate the parties (e.g. sportspeople, clubs, agents, sponsors and associated parties) in finding a resolution to their disputes that may otherwise go unresolved or be subject to lengthy and costly litigation and/or arbitration proceedings. A specialist sports mediator also has the ability to help parties to the dispute not only resolve the dispute but also assist them to repair working relationships and reform mutually beneficial partnerships in the competitive world of professional sport. Specialist knowledge of the sports agent industry (specifically association football and football agent regulations) allows for ‘evaluative’ mediation to be undertaken where applicable as well as ‘facilitative’ mediation. As a specialist consultant to the football agent industry (as well as mediator) support is also provided to those requiring assistance in regards to the specialist area of the football agent industry including, agents, players, clubs and commercial partners.

The role of many a mediator is often defined by patience, persistence, and the art of guiding the mediation process towards a resolution. But what happens when a mediator faces an impasse, and their continued involvement might EVEN jeopardise the integrity of the process? This was highlighted in one incredibly important mediation process just a few weeks ago, and the 'mediator' choosing to exercise arguably a mediator's tool of last resort – and withdrawing from the process as the mediator. Withdrawal is a rarely discussed, but it is undoubtedly a powerful tool that requires careful judgement, ethical consideration, and an unwavering commitment to fairness. Hence, I wrote the following article considering: why, when, and how this ultimate step can become necessary, if only to ensure that the mediation process remains constructive and credible. 👓 Read the original article here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eqxbWw3g 🔗 #Mediation #DisputeResolution #ADR #MediatorInsights #ConflictResolution #EthicsInMediation #ProfessionalDevelopment #SportsMediation #MediationInSport #JonathanBooker #FootballMediation ............ : Sentinel Sport & Mediation
