Measuring Research Impact That Matters I really enjoyed presenting yesterday at the British Academy of Management conference on the topic of “Measuring Research Impact That Matters” with my colleagues, Prof Flavio Hourneaux Junior, University of São Paulo, Brazil and Dr Luisa Huaccho Huatuco, University of York, UK. Whilst both academics and practitioners undertake business management research to create new knowledge aimed at better understanding organisations and making positive contributions to society, their research aims and motivations often do not align. For example, academia encourages academic journal output which practitioners cannot easily access, whilst practitioners often don’t share new research knowledge to retain competitive advantage. There is, however, a fantastic opportunity for academia and practice to work together to achieve mutual research aims to the wider benefit of business, organisations, and society.
