Happy Christmas Jumper Day from Shoplight! 🎅 Yesterday we enjoyed celebrating with Secret Santa gifts, festive treats, and a delightful festive meal! 🎁🥂 Each year we raffle off the chance to be a Secret Santa for one person in the team, this year it was for our Business Support Manager, Rob. The team raised £30 for Rob's chosen charity British Heart Foundation ❤️ We are incredibly grateful for everyone's hard work and dedication at Shoplight. It's not often we get to provide the lighting in our hometown, so we were thrilled to work on the Mountain Warehouse store in Serpentine Green, Peterborough ⛰️ Lighting Designer, Samantha crafted a track and high bay lighting scheme, which is a standard for Mountain Warehouse. Track-mounted NORT GS spotlights were suspended around the perimeter, while Saturn high bay pendants covered the mid-floor, ensuring a uniform light level 💡 To highlight the window displays, NORT GS spotlights with a medium beam focused on the mannequins, attracting customers to the store ✨ Colt Bio downlights were installed in the corridor leading to the changing rooms, and Piston recessed spotlights, along with LED strips around the mirrors, provided excellent lighting within the changing rooms. A central linear pendant light was installed above the tills, providing optimal task lighting for staff to work efficiently. #sustainableretaillighting #biopolymerlighting #modularlighting #lightingdesign

Our wonderful client, GAIL's hosts an annual 'GAIL’s Day'. This year, our Marketing Executive, Rachel James took a break from creating lighting-related content and went along to the Grafton Bakery in Cambridge to experience how the bakery operates day-to-day. After a warm welcome, Rachel started her day watching the GAIL's crew in action, getting the hang of the tills, and learning about the scrumptious pastries and snacks—what a treat! Rachel was soon pitching in, plating and bagging orders and even handling several orders at the tills. During slower periods, Rachel checked stock levels and ensured everything was perfectly arranged. In the afternoon, Rachel teamed up with the kitchen crew to whip up delicious goodies for the next day. Together they crafted almond croissants, cinnamon buns, plain croissants, pain au chocolat, and their amazing cheese and ham croissants. Rachel said “The team were all lovely and very welcoming. I enjoyed working behind the counter and serving customers. A personal highlight was getting to prep the ham and cheese croissants, as they’re my favourite snack from GAIL’s. As a B Corp, it's so important to us that we maintain and build on our community impact. We've committed to each team member volunteering 2 working days per year. During 2024 our team dedicated at least 384 hours to volunteering across various local charities and organisations! A few of our volunteering highlights from this year include: PECT 🌱Contributing to a local environmental and community project, planting trees and wildflowers native to the UK to help preserve the natural environment for our pollinators Embrace CVoC 🔩Built racking to store toy donations 🗒️Helped carry out a stock take of the Toy Bank 📞Sourced details of MPs, Police and Crime Commissioners, and Schools to inform relevant contacts of their services 🎁Contacted toy shops to ask if they would donate toys to their Christmas toy bank CareZone 🔨Helped build flat-pack kitchen units, sorting furniture and household items, and packaging supplies for the homeless 🎁Assisted giving out Christmas Hampers to organisations who support individuals and families in need of financial assistance Ormiston Bushfield Academy 🏎️Our marketing team have been helping students in a national competition with their Shoplight sponsored F1 product, branding and presentation Thank you to every member of our team who has made time to take up volunteering opportunities within our local community. #internationalvolunteerday #volunteering #givingback

Last Friday, our courageous team took on the Firewalk challenge with Peterborough’s Firewalk UK Academy. The mind-over-matter training was a fantastic way to prepare before walking on hot coals🌡️🔥 Everyone did an amazing job and completed the challenge with confidence and style! Importantly, this was all for a great cause. One of our biggest projects in 2024 was Fairway Furniture in Plymouth. Our designer, Ellie Paynter faced the challenge of creating a comprehensive lighting scheme for this large space, something she achieved beautifully by lighting individual sections with their own track-mounted spotlights throughout the store. 652 Titan Mini D track spotlights and 102 Steeler Line Pendant linear lights create the desired ambiance ensuring even lighting throughout. And, to ensure the store looked its best, our Focusing Manager, Terry V. spent two full days adjusting each Titan Mini D spotlight, making sure each one directed light at exactly the correct angle. #retaillighting #lightingdesign

A wonderful way of getting into the Christmas spirit is to volunteer, and last week, our wonderful team members Florence, Drew, Adrian, and Sam. R dedicated their morning to helping local charity, CareZone. They helped distribute Christmas Packages to organisations that support individuals and families in need of financial assistance. Our lighting designer crafted a stunning bold scheme featuring our 3D printed biopolymer range, including NORT GS, Raider Bio, and Colt Bio.
