Thought of using mobile apps in your simulation training? 🤔 Thanks to feedback from the simulation faculty at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, this week we launched SimEPR's mobile app 🤩 📲 What can sim participants do with the app? - Upload and view observations - Review observation trigger and escalation information - Complete assessments (such as GCS, MUST and more) - Quickly look-up guidelines And just like our computer and tablet apps, it’s 100% web-based—no download or installation required! With mobile apps accompanying electronic patient record systems becoming increasingly prevalent in healthcare, this new feature adds an extra dimension of simulation fidelity, while also equipping students/trainees with the skills to use the whole range of computer, tablet and smartphone devices in healthcare settings. 🚀 See how SimEPR is transforming medical simulation training for faculty and trainees: 🔗 www.simepr.com 📧 Get in touch with me or the Sim & Skills team to arrange a demo

Head of Skills & Simulation (Health & Social Care) at Buckinghamshire New University

🌟 First Week of SPLP Completed at Uxbridge Ward! 🌟 I’m excited to share that we’ve just wrapped up the first week of our newly formatted Simulated Practice Learning Placement (SPLP) at Buckinghamshire New University. This innovative approach brought students into the immersive environment of Uxbridge Ward, where they experienced realistic scenarios and tackled the complexities of clinical practice. As part of this new format, we have also been trialing SIMePR, an electronic patient record system that has been invaluable for our students. The use of SIMePR is preparing them for digital integration in real clinical settings, enhancing their skills in clinical documentation and patient management with technology. Throughout the week, we covered a wide range of essential topics aligned with the NMC Standards, including: • 🏥 Ward Life & Patient Care: Engaging students in daily ward routines, including patient handovers, shift coordination, and holistic care. • 💬 Bereavement & End-of-Life Care: Guiding students through sensitive conversations and providing compassionate care during difficult times. • 🚨 Emergency Situations: Responding to critical incidents like sepsis, acute deterioration, and other medical emergencies, focusing on rapid assessment and effective interventions. • 👩⚕️ Leadership & Teamwork: Developing leadership skills and promoting effective communication to ensure patient safety and quality care. • 💪 Patient Advocacy: Encouraging students to advocate for their patients, emphasizing the importance of patient-centered care. • 🤝 Conflict Resolution & De-escalation: Handling challenging interactions with patients and families, practicing de-escalation techniques in high-pressure situations. The feedback from our students has been extremely positive. They found the immersive experience on Uxbridge Ward invaluable, praising the realistic scenarios and the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a supportive environment. The use of SIMePR has been a key component, helping students become familiar with digital healthcare tools, which are crucial for modern practice. A huge thank you to our dedicated faculty and support team for creating such an engaging and effective learning experience. It’s inspiring to see our future nurses develop their skills, confidence, and readiness for the realities of clinical practice. I look forward to seeing even more progress as we continue this innovative approach to simulated practice learning! SimEPR is years ahead of the medical simulation game...2 years, to be precise. 🚨 A new national NHS Maternity Early Warning Score (MEWS) has been developed. It is planned that every organisation in England nationally will have implemented the new MEWS by 2026. 🤩 Thanks to a quick tip-off from faculty at University of Bradford: a digital version of the observations system has already been implemented! 🚀 Using SimEPR, medical education faculty in universities and hospitals can equip their trainees with the knowledge, digital and clinical skills needed for today and tomorrow. ⏰ Not only that, our observations feature saves staff literally hours, compared to paper charts. With the 'Magic Obs' feature, faculty can automate the creation of days worth of retrospective observations when building scenarios. 💉 This is just a snippet of this week's update, which also included anaesthetic and recovery charts for ODP/theatre simulation, thanks to support from faculty at Edge Hill University, in addition to the team at Frimley Health Foundation Trust. (Tony Jermy - something we discussed when we last met). Find out more about how SimEPR has 'been taking the simulation world by storm' (as Paul Wilder once put it in one of his articles ⚡️): 🔗 Check out our website: www.simepr.com ✉️ Get in touch with me 🟡 Get in touch with the Sim & Skills team
