Last week David Hill and Matt Bracher were honoured to participate in the ACCIONA I'MNOVATION Demo Day in Madrid. This event was the culmination of a six-month study in which Sintela demonstrated the highway monitoring capabilities of our ONYX fiber-optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) unit to the Roads Concession Team at ACCIONA. During this study Sintela successfully demonstrated the use of the high-performance OnyxSensing Unit to gather accurate vehicle flow statistics and to auto detect and generate real-time alerts of events such as incident detection and people walking on the road. Using an optical fiber deployed in the road surface for sensing this approach has the potential to radically changed traffic monitoring, offering a low cost and gapless method of detecting vehicle behaviour and other highway activity.  Thanks to Esther Madrigal Diez and the rest of the Roads Concession Team and to Clara López Pliego and her colleagues in the Open Innovation Team.

Great to see Midstream Integrity Services (MIS) leading the way in fiber optic sensing for pipeline monitoring! By working with FOSA, Sintela aims to establish a unified set of industry standards that will enhance interoperability, reliability, and trust in DFOS systems and provide customers with a common framework to assess OEM vendors performance claims. Sintela’s advanced DFOS technology is used worldwide for real-time monitoring in critical sectors such as oil and gas, rail, telecoms, and security. The company collaborates with world-class partners, including SLB (Schlumberger) in oil and gas, Sensonic in rail, and leading telecom providers.
