Am wythnos! What a week! Last week, we welcomed our partners, Teófilo Kukush Pati and Tsanim Wajai Asamat to Cymru! Here's a round up of what happened. 💚 Welsh Government announced further funding for the Wampís Nation in a meeting with the Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies, and Minister for Delivery, Julie James. This funding will support the Wampís with more solar powered boats to monitor and travel around their territory. 💚 We met with the First Minister, and sat down for a chat with Delyth Jewell MS. 💚 We had very constructive conversations with both Senedd Committees for Climate Change and International Relations. Carolyn Thomas, Heledd Fychan. 💚 We met with Derek Walker and his team and then followed it with a Size of Wales team meeting at our office. 💚 With the help of Miller Research (UK) Ltd and The Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, we ran an event for Welsh B-corp businesses. 💚 We brought together over 250 young people from schools in South and North Wales together at 2 events, in Caerdydd and Wrecsam. At these YouthCOP events, young people heard directly from the Wampís and wrote a youth climate charter for Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government. ⏪ Last week, we welcomed our partners from the Wampís Nation. Financial institutions and banks' investments in fossil fuels and other extractive industries are having a devastating effect on their land in the Purvian Amazon. In Wales, nearly £1 in every £10 from Welsh Public Pension investments are linked with high risk of financing deforestation. Yesterday was a B-Corp fuelled Thursday in #walesclimateweek Headed over to Tramshed Tech in the morning to attend "Indigenous Leaders in Conversation with B Corp Cymru", hosted by Size of Wales I Maint Cymru and Miller Research (UK) Ltd at The Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales. An inspiring event with leaders from Size of Wales' Indigenous Partner, the Wampís Nation. They protect over 1.3 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest and I got to hear about the incredible work they do at the frontline of the climate and nature crisis. To end the day I visited the Amber office for the Cardiff B Social, an evening of networking and inspiring conversation over B Corp drinks and nibbles. Cohosted with B Lab, it was nice to finally connect with the local B-Corps in person, as well as with organisations that are considering the journey themselves.
