Some of our Scottish SOLLA members have been getting into the Christmas spirit again this year. Supporting the Age Scotland Big Gift Appeal. It’s something we’ve been proud to support since 2020, providing Christmas gift bags with all manner of goodies. Our SOLLA members share their cash donations with our Advisory Board member Catriona Smith, and she works hard each year to buy, wrap and deliver each present. This year to 72 people who will have something to open for Christmas. Thanks to Catriona and our Scottish SOLLA members who make such a difference to all those receiving their special gifts. Planning for retirement is so important for a secure financial future. But this recent article from PensionsAge shows that many aren’t giving it the attention it deserves. https://lnkd.in/eZ6wvMcw Working women in particular are greatly relying on the state pension for their retirement, with 38 percent anticipating that it may be their only source of retirement income. And even amongst those who’ve already retired, there are concerns about future financials. Fewer than one in three retired women feel confident in always being able to live a comfortable lifestyle in retirement, a proportion far smaller than among retired men. State pensions play a vital role, but they may not be enough without additional planning, and it’s essential that everyone takes the time to think properly about the future and the ways that they will fund it. As a SOLLA adviser, you can make such a difference with the right advice, helping clients to plan properly for later life. You can find out more here about the SOLLA accreditation and those better conversations that will help you to give a gold standard of later life advice. https://lnkd.in/eQbXzMMq #PensionAttention #LaterLifeAdvice #PlanningForRetirement #BetterConversations #theSOLLAdifference

Our training on Consumer Vulnerability in Later Life has now been completed more than 20,000 times. In collaboration with Just Group plc, it was launched in 2019, supporting financial advisers, paraplanners and other professionals in identifying and supporting vulnerable customers. And this week’s article from Professional Adviser highlights that there’s still a strong demand from advisers for this ongoing support: https://lnkd.in/eGQA9kMM Our founder Tish Hanifan commented: "We’re delighted that SOLLA's collaboration with Just has resulted in such a wide range of advisers accessing and benefitting from our vulnerability training. This free resource not only guides them through key aspects of vulnerability but also allows them to test their understanding of the topic and its application to clients as well as being a valuable source of self-directed learning. It's important that such a resource is made available to financial advisers, particularly as the end result is a better experience for both their clients and their clients' families." So, for those better conversations with your clients to ensure they’re receiving the extra care and support that they need, you can access our training here: https://lnkd.in/d63AJhN #Vulnerability #VulnerabilityTraining #LaterLifeAdvice #BetterConversations #theSOLLAdifference

The Chancellor's decision to raise National Insurance contributions will have a huge impact on so many businesses . And one sector that will be badly affected will be the Care sector. This change could be the last straw that causes more care homes to close their doors. So we're asking that you take a moment to read the letter being sent to the Chancellor by a wide ranging number of organisations in the care sector. Urgently calling for an immediate review of measures announced in the Autumn budget. And for the establishment of exemptions similar to those granted to the NHS. Or alternatively, an adjustment to Local Government Finance to bridge this funding gap. If, like us, you feel that this is something that you support, please do add your voice by signing the letter. Providers Unite is a powerful campaign, uniting adult care service providers across the UK to advocate for meaningful change. Bringing together a network of care providers collectively serving over 1.2 million individuals, and employing a dedicated workforce of 1.59 million. Please join the 1500+ signatures on this open letter to Chancellor Rachel Reeves. It's so important to have your say. https://lnkd.in/eUj4zppZ #ProvidersUnite #HaveYourSay #LaterLifeCare #BetterConversations #theSOLLAdifference

At SOLLA, it’s so important to us to make a difference where we can. The SOLLA difference, which is at the core of everything we do. And we’re so pleased to be supporting Age Scotland again next year. Sponsoring their calendar for 2025. Thanks to Catriona Smith for all her involvement, enabling us to support the calendar for the 3rd year in a row. Here’s what Age Scotland had to say about our support at SOLLA: “Thank you so much for your ongoing support and sponsoring the month of March. The calendar not only highlights the best of Scotland, but provides key links and information to those who need it most.” You can find out more here about Age Scotland and the wonderful work that they do: https://lnkd.in/e4m5DyEH #AgeScotland #AgeScotlandCalendar #SOLLASupport #MakingADifference #theSOLLAdifference

It’s always great to see our SOLLA members nominated for industry awards. And we’re hugely proud of SOLLA Advisory Board members Catriona Smith and Zoe Taylor. As well as SOLLA accredited advisers Andrew Day and Neil Winstanley. All nominated for the Champion of Advice award in next year’s Professional Adviser awards. It will be a difficult choice for the judges. But it’s great to know that their clients are the ultimate winners, with such a high standard of quality advice. Good luck to all the other finalists as well, and we look forward to the awards ceremony in March next year. Our SOLLA advisers are often nominated in industry awards for their gold standard of advice.
