  • There has been unprecedented action in the 'cleaning up' of the Voluntary Carbon Market this week, after Verra issued sanctions on a number of low quality carbon projects that required the carbon verifying bodies to 'pay back' and credits that have been falsely or over issued. When millions of credits have been falsely issued, this has been an expensive week. Clickety click.... https://lnkd.in/e399RFda There seems to be a coordinated effort by all of the Carbon Standards Bodies to bring greater transparency and integrity into the carbon markets, which can only be a good thing and help remove the greenwashing that is prevalent in the voluntary sector. Related to this is also the fact that upto 98% of some reforestation projects that have claimed carbon credits under the REDD+ methodologies have been lost to wildfires and can no longer claim. If you want some clear and sustainable advice on Carbon Credits, or how the Voluntary Carbon Markets can provide benefit to your organisation, or how Sol can assist your company in understanding, verifying and reducing its carbon impacts - drop our carbon team a line.

  • For those who are not aware, Defra issued this policy direction over the weekend and in one fell swoop threw a whole load of uncertainty into the waste to energy sector. Whether or not this is a politically motivated smokescreen around the Wisbech Incineration 'problem' or whether this underpins some wider undisclosed Government policy objective we have until May 24th to find out. We will have to wait and see... To read the policy direction then please click on the link below. https://lnkd.in/eYngqKHS
