We're looking forward to this exhibition next week by our DPhil student Edward Jacobs, which pairs photography with patient accounts of psychedelic therapies, building on Eddie's research.
Very pleased to announce next week's launch of Visions of #Psychedelics - a photographic exhibition developed in collaboration with Adam Isfendiyar. While clinical trials show promising results for psychedelic therapies, the treatment experience is radically different to established modalities in Psychiatry. As I've discovered during my PhD interviews, psychedelic experiences can bring up material that is often deeply personal and hard to articulate. Patient accounts of life before, during, and after treatment are often side-lined from the scientific literature but are essential for understanding the full impact of psychedelic therapies: pairing participant accounts with images has proven a powerful way to capture complex personal journeys and give voice to the human experience behind the clinical data. Very grateful for support from a wide range of supporters to bring 'Visions' to life: it's been made possible by The Cultural Programme, Photo Oxford Festival, Oxford Ethics and Humanities and University of Oxford. Thanks also to Clerkenwell Health and Psychedelic Participant Advocacy Network - PsyPAN for connecting us with trial participants willing to share their stories with us. Visions opens next Monday 25th November on Little Clarendon Street, and will be free to visit until the 1st December. Do come take a look if you're in Oxford (or even if you're not!) - we'll also be hosting an opening event Monday 1645-1845, including a panel with those at the forefront of this research, patients themselves, and photographer Adam Isfendiyar. #oxfordevents #photooxford #oxford #consciousness
We're delighted Somerville student Flora Prideaux has been attending COP29 this past week, and look forward to sharing her insights with you. Meet her, and other students attending, in this article. Flora said, 'As a 20-year-old undergraduate, I’m excited to help represent Youth voices within our delegation and at COP29 more broadly. I believe that interdisciplinary groups at higher education institutions play a huge role in climate governance processes. I hope to work to facilitate communication between researchers, resources, administration, and undergraduate students at COP through discussions, negotiations, and media resources.' https://lnkd.in/e8AkbGF9
