SEND and inclusion are often used interchangeably, but it's important to note that they’re not the same. SEND refers specifically to provisions designed to meet the needs of children with learning difficulties or disabilities that require additional or different support beyond what is typically available. Inclusion, on the other hand, is a broader concept rooted in the principle of belonging. True inclusion requires systemic commitment. We are pleased to share that the Plymouth Institute of Education Open Journal has offered to devote a special issue of their peer-reviewed journal to the Power of Us Conference! This means that the journal will be able to serve as a forum by which the voices and experiences shared at the conference can be published to a wider audience. The Plymouth Institute of Education Open Journal (PIEOJ) is an open access peer-reviewed journal that promotes courageous conversations in the field of education. The journal’s mission is to provide a space to disseminate research and ideas by and for students, graduates, staff, and community members. Submissions to the journal will consist of case studies, opinion pieces, research articles, and brief pieces on the topic of inclusion in education. These pieces will be sourced from the ideas developed over the course of the conference.
