Is your company sending waste mattresses to an illegal waste facility? Check if your mattress recycler is legally compliant by asking for a copy of their environmental permit and their latest Compliance Assessment Report for the site they operate from. Environmental exemptions are not always proof of compliance for mattress recyclers as they only take 10 minutes to register via the internet and don't mean the recycler is following waste laws and being audited regularly by the Environment Agency. An Environmental Exemption does not exempt the exemption holder from environmental permitting obligations. Many so-called recyclers operate in the grey market re-covering waste mattresses with no sanitisation and without any permission from the EA. They wholesale them to the independent retailers or via the web. They don't comply with end of waste regulations! Operating a waste facility without a permit may be a criminal offence. So please don't put yourself at risk by being complicit in trading with illegal waste processing facilities. Arrange an audit at your Mattress Recycler's facility at short notice and see if they welcome you and have an open house policy for customers. Review their Health and Safety, and ask about where processed materials are sent to. Are processed mattress materials being sent to exempt or permitted facilities? Where are your processed mattresses ultimately going to? We see so many companies potentially breaking the law. We see so many mattress recyclers storing, operating and even shredding mattresses outdoors! Which is non-compliant. There are not many fully permitted mattress recyclers in the UK, but we all try hard to ensure we follow the law. Please feel free contact us for more details regarding compliance for mattress recycling. info@circom.co.uk #mattressrecycling #wasteregulations #compliance #recycling

At Spencer Synthetics, we’re proud to support the upholstery sector by giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste. We recycle Dacron waste - the cushioning fibres found inside sofas - and transform it into soft, safe filling for products like children’s toys, cushions, pet bedding and pet toys, and more. We’re also currently partnering with major sofa manufacturers across the UK and Europe to help them recycle their production scraps. Together, we’re working to create a circular economy where every material has value, and every product has a future. Want to learn more about how we can support your upholstery manufacturing business’s recycling goals? 👀 Here's a first glimpse of the new sprung sofa cushion that we have recently designed in partnership with Wade Spring Limited. All the fibre within the product contains recycled materials created from plastic bottles and every component can be easily disassembled for further recycling. ♻ Whether it's testing new filling materials, or trialling innovative conversion methods, we love working on new product developments and taking on new challenges. #foam #fibre #furniture #upholstery
