Join us for our 'Give It Up For Shine' January Challenge to make a change to your own life, and to others, by helping us support those affected by #SpinaBifida and/or #Hydrocephalus. Improve your health and wellbeing by giving up your unhealthy habits for a month and donating what you save, or ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you, to help us fund our telephone support and advice line. Do you spend a lot on buying coffees, takeaways or consume too many crisps or chocolate? Or do you want to spend less time watching TV or scrolling social media? Simply donate what you save or fundraise and get your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. We would love to follow your journey, so send us your selfies with what you are giving up! #GiveItUpForShine Find out more – https://lnkd.in/eHitr7WC

About us
Shine (Spina bifida • Hydrocephalus • Information • Networking • Equality) is the UK's leading charity that provides specialist support from before birth and throughout life of anyone living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, as well as to parents, families, carers and professional care staff. Working throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Shine is a community of over 14,500 members. Together we share achievements, challenges, and information about life with spina bifida, hydrocephalus and related issues. Shine enables people to get the best out of life. Our aim is to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by spina bifida and / or hydrocephalus, and associated conditions. Many of Shine’s services are entirely funded by the general public's generosity. Shine needs support to increase awareness of the conditions and raise vital funds so we can continue to provide specialist advice and support for children and adults living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Yesterday we said farewell to Ann Wing, specialist nurse from the Chelsea and Westminster spina bifida clinic. Ann has been at the clinic since it started over thirty years ago, and knows many of you from paediatrics at Great Ormond St and Queen Elizabeth Hackney before that. We all wish Ann a long, happy and healthy retirement, and thank her for everything she has done. Ann, we'll miss you! 💛

2024 has been another busy year here at Shine, and so far, we’ve supported over 4,200 people and over 9,200 separate issues. This FREE support provided to our members who are living with #SpinaBifida and #Hydrocephalus is only possible thanks to the generosity of our fabulous fundraisers and donors, and we are very grateful for all the time and energy that everyone puts into supporting Shine. We would like to give a big thankyou to those of you have donated so far. Any donation or fundraising you can do this festive season, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. Can you help spread a little 'shine' this festive season? Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eBDFDky9 #SpreadALittleShine
