Back in May 2024 new data revealed that the number of people injured or diagnosed with a spinal cord injury is approximately double that previously estimated. 4,400 people are injured or diagnosed with a spinal cord injury every year, not 2,500 as previously thought. This equates to someone becoming paralysed every two hours. As a result, the estimated prevalence of spinal cord injuries in the UK has risen to 105,000. Read the story https://lnkd.in/ei8g9Y-J The data was announced on Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day. In 2025 this day will take place on Friday 16 May 🗓️ #SpinalCordInjury #Data #SCIAD

Spinal Injuries Association reposted this
Earlier this week Premium Care Solutions Limited invited me and some of my amazing colleagues from the clinical, support network and advocacy teams at Spinal Injuries Association for lunch to celebrate everything we've achieved in our partnership this year. It was lovely spending time with some of the PCS team hearing about how they've supported our members, and in turn the impact that support from SIA's services has had on their clients. I'm excited to see what we can do together in 2025! #partnerships

If you've left it a bit late to get a present for someone who's already got everything, or is too tricky to buy for, gift them a donation to SIA and show them that you care about the spinal cord injury community. It's estimated that 105,000 people in the UK have SCI (but that number is probably higher) and 4,400 people every year will sustain one. SIA is there for people from the moment of injury, for the rest of their life, whenever they need us. We've just seen out our 50th year - help us do even more in the next 50⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eRZxmCN9
