  • Engineering is everywhere and it’s for everyone. Engineering powers our cities, connects our communities and drives many of the innovations that shape our world. From the water we drink to the food we eat, to healthcare, buildings and the technology we use, engineering plays a critical role in creating things we rely upon every day. That’s why, on UNESCO’s World Engineering Day, we recognise both the contribution of engineers across the globe, as well as the need to support underrepresented talent and those who might face additional barriers or challenges during their career. Ensuring diversity in engineering creates equity, but it also creates so much more. Because when you bring together a wider range of perspectives and lived experiences, something magic happens. Diverse teams come together to create more innovative solutions with more impactful outcomes. That’s why, at Spirax Group, an inclusive culture based on Values, is one of our four colleague promises. We know that when our colleagues can be themselves at work, they can achieve their full potential and together, we can engineer a more efficient, safer and sustainable world for everyone. #WorldEngineeringDay #Industry #Engineering #EveryoneIsIncluded #ColleaguePromises

  • “…I think the thing that really struck me as I was thinking about my team for the future is we didn't set out to hire a woman. We set out to hire the best possible person we could, but we also recognised that we wanted to look harder and longer and make sure that we're really pushing ourselves to find that best possible person. And I think we did in all of those roles.”    Our Group CEO Nimesh Patel examines his approach to talent and succession planning and shares the progress the Group has made in achieving more balance in its leadership team, in today’s interview with Tara Cemlyn-Jones for 25x25 Limited.

The Chief People Officer role has evolved, becoming central to shaping organisational culture, driving strategic initiatives and influencing business outcomes. As companies recognise the importance of attracting, retaining and developing top talent, HR leader’s portfolios are expanding in the business and the Boardroom. We're looking forward to exploring these themes at our upcoming CPO Retreat later this month, delving into the various ways in which the CPO’s role has expanded and how they can collaborate with the Board to drive organisational success, through effective talent management strategies. We're delighted to have Jim Devine, Group HR Director Spirax Group, Tracy Sheedy (FCIPD), NED, Tracsis PLC and Matthew Blagg, CEO, Criticaleye speaking on this particular topic on day one of the Retreat! Bringing together global chief people officers and HR leaders the Retreat will set the scene for attendees to benchmark on reimagining, reshaping and reinvention across the people function. Other key sessions at the Retreat include The Future of Leadership, The CPO as a Changemaker, Stepping Up to Group CPO and much more! • As Spirax Group, we champion the promotion of inclusive and equitable access to education. Aligned to those values, we celebrate UNESCO’s International Day of Education, which recognises the role of education, for peace and development globally. Now in its seventh year. UNESCO believes that education is a basic human right and essential for the next generations to reach their full potential. For 2025, the theme of the International Day of Education is AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World. Which explores how the boundaries between human interaction and machine-driven action can often blur. https://lnkd.in/d8raCig In 2021, aligned to our One Planet: Engineering with Purpose Sustainability Strategy, we established a £15 million Group Education Fund, with the purpose of promoting inclusive and equitable access to education in the communities where we operate. We believe without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.     An initiative we are very proud of, with the Fund having already created and continuing to make positive impacts.
