Congratulations St Monica Trust and Impact Alliance for an inspiring launch event last week. A great conversation, great manifesto and great energy in the room. We look forward to working together and playing our part at St George's Bristol. We know that collective, uplifting cultural experiences have a magical part to play in reducing loneliness 🙌 ❤️ #impactalliance #bristol #community #livemusic
We came away from our launch event this week feeling more inspired than ever thanks to our brilliant speakers. We were lucky enough to have presenter Jonathan Dimbleby as our host for the evening. Jonathan kicked off the evening with David Williams, CEO for the St Monica Trust, talking about what sparked David’s initial idea for the need of a collaborative approach to tackle issues such as loneliness. Kate Jopling, a policy and strategy consultant with particular expertise in loneliness and connection, shared the serious consequences of loneliness and why it is such a complex issue to address. We came away motivated by her recommendations and encouragement to be bold in our approach. And finally, our fantastic panel joined Jonathan and David on stage: ⭐ Kay Libby, CEO for Age UK Bristol ⭐ Julie Barnett, Professor of Health Psychology at the University of Bath ⭐ Carol Watson, Service Director for Commissioning Housing and Partnership at South Gloucestershire Council ⭐ Jessica Vallentine, Director of Responsible Business for Business West It was great to hear about why each of them has joined the Impact Alliance, and why it is important for their respective fields of education, business, housing and older people and care to play a role in this important work. The big theme of the night was how important it is for us to work together, rather than in isolation, to make meaningful and lasting change. #ImpactAlliance #MakeLonelinessAStranger #Collaboration #Lonliness #Isolation #TogetherAgainstLoneliness
