    Morning! 😊 Something that came to mind this week... I recently dropped a note to someone senior in my Risk & Compliance network to congratulate them on making a fab hire. I know the person well, and wanted to let them know it was a great choice. Their response made me stop and think. They mentioned how many people had commented on LinkedIn or reached out directly to say something similar - and how much that actually reinforced their decision. It reminded me how powerful a simple like, comment, or quick message can be. It's obviously not the magic key to a hire, but it can really add a bit of positive reinforcement and make someone feel good as they step into a new chapter. 😍 It's given me a kick up the bum to try be better from here on, as I definitely don't do it enough!     What REALLY makes a standout CV❓ I've reviewed countless applications over the years, and there are a few things that immediately make a candidate stand out from the rest. Here’s what I love to see when opening a CV: 👉Clear metrics and achievements: Demonstrate REALLY how you’ve made a difference with numbers, e.g. time saved, revenue generated, efficiency improvements. This is what my clients care about. 👉Concise but informative: This means different things to different people, depending on how much experience you have. You may have heard the "ideal" CV should be 1-2 pages, but if it's 3-4 pages with relevant information that adds value to the role, then don't be afraid to do this! 1-2 pages often just isn't enough. 👉Aesthetics: The overall look and layout of your CV.  Use clear headings and structure it in a way that draws attention to the most important details. We're all guilty of skim reading when busy, so make it easy for whoever's reading it to find what they need. If you've got these few things right, I am very likely going to be intrigued to pick up the phone and have a chat to find out more 😊 Hope these simple tips helps!     Is a 6-8 round interview process too long? 🤔 In my recent experience, a client has a 6-8 round interview process and this is standard for most roles. With the market now seeing some positive signs of picking up, it’s important to manage this efficiently if this is the approach you are taking. Here are a few tips for both sides: For Employers: 🟣Evaluate if every stage adds value: Is each stage providing new insights into the candidate’s fit? If not, consider streamlining. 🟣Transparency: Ensure you are upfront from the start around the process and manage expectations. 🟣Timing: Commit to an interview timeline that is within reason. Ideally, they should never go over 4 weeks. 🟣Efficient feedback loops: If you’re looking to take this stance, detailed feedback should be provided at each stage (both positive & constructive) to avoid losing top talent. For Candidates: 🟣Keep the energy up: Interviews are a whole other job in itself but try to treat each stage as a fresh opportunity to impress, while leveraging what you’ve learned. 🟣Ask insightful questions: Use each interview to note down more information on company culture, team dynamics, and your potential impact. Use this to your advantage throughout the process. 🟣Stay patient but mindful: A long process can test your patience, but remember interview processes are a two way street and also your chance to assess if this is the right company for you.
