A powerful new framework from Anthropic called the "Model Context Protocol" aims to provide an industry standard protocol to connect #LLMs to data sources and popular enterprise applications. #Anthropic claims MCP provides a standardised way to "share contextual information with language models; expose tools and capabilities to AI systems; build composable integrations and workflows." The protocol uses JSON-RPC 2.0 messages to establish communication between LLM applications (hosts), "connectors" (clients) within the host application and services (servers) that provide capabilities. Read more below.

We get a lot of surveys of "IT leaders" in our inboxes at The Stack. PR agencies working for software vendors are typically the culprit and the story is often: "99% of IT leaders love the cloud" says CSP -- or "just 1% of IT leaders plan to stay in the cloud" says on-prem tin provider. Colour us surprised. Perhaps it's time we embarked on some real surveys, inspired by the #CISO we interviewed, who when asked what he was most worried about, responded, after a perfectly timed if slightly worrying pause: "Me." Good survey questions ideas to Jasper Hamill jasper@thestack.technology and Edward Targett ed@thestack.technology with "Lord of all I survey" in the subject line. We're deadly serious.
