As part of a special supplement on 'Diversity in Pharma', our CEO and co-founder, Jason Mellad, recently spoke to International Clinical Trials (Samedan Ltd) on 'The importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the pharma industry'. Speaking on the developments over the past decade, Jason describes the positive shift from compliance-driven DEI efforts to many companies making DEI part of their core business strategy. In his interview, Jason describes the benefits of having a strong DEI within a pharma company: "By having a strong culture of DEI, pharma companies are starting to better understand and serve diverse patient populations, resulting in more equitable healthcare outcomes." Building on this, he also discusses the importance of representation in upper management and what it means for the workforce and patients. Fantastic news from TRIMTECH Therapeutics Limited last week, whose co-founders' recent studies on TRIM21-based degraders were published in Cell and Science! These early studies form the basis of the Company's developing technology. The papers report on the innovative research by Leo James and William A McEwan to harness the power of TRIM21, a protein that plays a role in a variety of cellular processes. The findings show TRIM21's ability to degrade tau aggregates, which are linked to Alzheimer's disease, without affecting functional tau protein. The studies also show how this degradation correlates with preserved motor function and slowed disease progression in mice. The papers can be found here: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/erKqtKMw (Cell) ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gqMdmUyJ (Science) #NeurodegenerativeDisorder #Research #Alzheimers
Delighted to see our co-founders' recent studies on TRIM21-based degraders come out in Cell (https://lnkd.in/erKqtKMw) and Science (https://lnkd.in/gqMdmUyJ). In these groundbreaking publications, the laboratories of Leo James and William A McEwan have harnessed the power of TRIM21 to efficiently degrade large complex substrates like tau aggregates, which are associated with neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. By taking advantage of TRIM21's clustering-based activation, they can efficiently remove aggregates both in cells and in the brain of a mouse tauopathy model while leaving functional tau protein untouched! Most excitingly, inhibiting aggregate formation has allowed us to preserve motor function and slow the progress of disease in mice. We are excited that these scientific insights will inform the foundational technology underpinning TRIMTECH therapeutics.
