Great to see STEP's research on loss of mental capacity covered in this The Straits Times article on the risks of being financially abused by relatives in old age. This is an important issue, and we are keen to raise public awareness on steps that can be taken to protect against abuse. As the article notes, 'you can lessen the risks of being taken advantage of if you make decisions early to appoint a representative of your choice and make your wishes known to the rest of the family.'
