Halford Flood Meadow is functioning well this morning. This is the third time the Stour has spilled into the meadow this autumn. Our temporary stock fencing has high single strand wire so it doesn't catch on the floodwater beneath. The young apple trees are surviving in the main, we have replaced the wood mulch with well rotted horse manure as it tends to stick to the ground better in floods - the wood mulch gets taken downstream! This is the eleventh time this winter that the River Stour has used Halford flood meadow to spread out and take an easier route downhill! The spillway we cut has certainly created a difference to #flood risk and a more diverse #ecosystem.

Do you need to offset your biodiversity losses on a development? Our twenty-four #BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) units at Halford Flood Meadow are for sale at varying rates depending on how far away your development site is. The nearer your development site is to the meadow, the lower the price you will need to pay for each biodiversity offset unit, this is irrespective of council and area boundaries. Any location within the rings below will amount to a reduction in what you will pay per unit to discharge your BNG planning condition.
