  • School children in Malvern have completed an impressive 41,145 miles of physical activity as part of the Street Tag challenge, a free smartphone app that encourages people to explore their local area by visiting virtual tags to earn points and win prizes. The challenge, which ran from September 26 to November 18, 2024, was part of Malvern Hills District Council's commitment to Active Travel, and saw 12 schools across the district take part. The app aims to encourage families to walk, cycle, and roll to school, be physically active, and connect with greenspaces. The schools that topped the leaderboard were Hanley Swan St Gabriel's with St Mary's C of E Primary School, St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, and Abberley Parochial Primary School. The top leaderboard winners received cash prizes, ranging up to £300. The challenge was a huge success, with over 34 million steps walked and a strong sense of community fostered among participants. The winning school, Hanley Swan St Gabriel's with St Mary's C of E Primary School, plans to use their £300 prize to fund physical activity initiatives. The success of the challenge has been praised by local officials and the CEO of Street Tag. Councillor Jennie Watkins, portfolio holder for communities and housing at Malvern Hills District Council, congratulated the winners and expressed hope that they would continue to make active travel a part of their daily lives. Seun Oshinaike, CEO of Street Tag, praised the participants for turning small, consistent actions into a remarkable achievement, and encouraged them to continue leading the way in building healthier habits and fostering connection. Visit www.streettag.co.uk for more information about Street Tag. The Street Tag app is still available to use, however, the Malvern Hills leaderboard has now finished. https://lnkd.in/dDzHk_8j

  • Earlier this month; Celebrating all @streettagbedford Taggers! REPOST We had a thrilling day at the Bedford Borough Family Hubs Festival! The day consisted of fun activities to celebrate their new website including a climbing wall and of course a super fun Street Tag adventure hunt! Attendees were also able to learn more about the support available through the Family Hubs and Children Centre's. A massive thank you to all the families and young people who came to learn more about Street Tag and participate in our adventure hunt! You can see of their lovely rewards in the photos! We even had families who solved the puzzle and stayed around to give tips to other families. Talk about commitment! A special shout-out to Connor (picture 1) who is currently 5th on the leaderboard for Cotton End Forest School (out of the entire school). Keep up the amazing work Connor! We also met up with our best friends and super taggers Sorcha and Family (picture 4) who continue to get involved with all of our activities! (They are the best) A brilliant day of Street Tag fun and a huge congratulations to the Family Hubs for their lovely new website. Make sure to check it out.
