After recent storm events, schools and education authorities are looking for cost effective, long-term solutions which can keep children safe, avoid closures and educate our next generation on water management. In our latest blog, we’re discussing if conventional drainage alone is a thing of the past by looking to natural SuDS schemes for schools. Read here: https://lnkd.in/eqgGB7-j In the blog, you’ll also find a link to a walk through tour of retrofit SuDS in a primary school, featuring Jacqueline Diaz-Nieto and Bill Blackledge from 2B Landscape Consultancy Ltd. This week we were visited by E-Nano Ltd to demonstrate some of their new technology in the form of a portable light box. The new technology was showcased to members of STRI's research and consultancy teams, and Mark Ferguson from the The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club Limited. This device uses optical sensors in a controlled light environment to capture images and processes them to allow the identification of key turf characteristics. In essence, quantifying what the human eye sees, and sometimes things it doesn't. This is a standalone spin out from SPROUT using some of the technology being integrated into the robot and making it accessible and usable to a wider audience. Thank you to the E-Nano Ltd team for showcasing the latest tech to us, we can't wait to see what comes next.

This week, members of our grounds team enjoyed a a tour of the Wimbledon courts, and spent time with the The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club Limited grounds team. The valuable visit allowed them to share the knowledge and see the courts our trials at Bingley HQ help to deliver. The tour included the courts, machinery sheds and workshops and our team heard all about the history of this prestigious venue, the different maintenance regimes and how courts are kept at a consistent quality, even though they are subject to varying agronomic challenges. Thank you so much for welcoming our team AELTC!
