In a time when it is hard to escape what political figures want us to think about the forthcoming general election we thought we’d ask county businesses what they want. We also asked them whether the Western Gateway really is important to Gloucestershire. Their answers are in the main read on the latest edition of The Raikes Journal, which you can find below. And not straying too far from election themes in terms of topic, but covering off the important bits that benefit business and that they need to be abreast of - we have a piece on immigration. It speaks of why understanding it is vital for companies and to growth. The insight comes from Willans LLP solicitors which is due to stage a free webinar for those managing overseas staff in a year when legislation has changed again. We would especially like to thank Steven Murray, Adam Vines, Luke Lutman and Anthony Davey CBA for making the main article possible. #glosbis Invest in Gloucestershire Business West Cheltenham Chamber Of Commerce Gloucester Chamber of Commerce Stroud & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) British Chambers of Commerce Randall & Payne LLP Klára Grmelová Sarah Cook Forest Economic Partnership Institute of Directors (IoD) Max Wilkinson Alex Chalk KC The Growth Hub - Gloucestershire #generalelection #business #insight Gloucester Chamber of Commerce - official Gloucester BID Cheltenham BID

Yesterday we told you about our new initiative around sharing a table in busy times. Today we would like to introduce you to another element, where Woodruffs Café Stroud may designate sharing tables. These tables are indicated by a sign like this, and are designed for people to share with others and maybe have a chat. If you see one of these signs on a table, you know it’s fine to sit there and share the table - without having to overcome social anxiety to ask, or ask and think someone may say “yes” just out of politeness. If this trial is successful, we hope to roll the initiative out across the Stroud District. This is just one of three new signs we’re introducing to help both customers and businesses. Look out for other announcements soon. Check out VisitStroud.uk/Share for more details and how Stephen Moore inspired us to make this happen. #LiveLocal #StroudDistrict #EatLocal #Stroud #ShopLocal #ExperienceLocal #DrinkLocal

The Stroud & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce are trialling a new initiative. At busy times, if you are happy to share your table, so the café can seat more people, look out for one of these signs and place it on your table. If you see one of these signs on a table, you know it’s fine to sit there and share the table - without having to overcome social anxiety to ask, or ask and think someone may say “yes” just out of politeness. This trial is currently running at Little Ginger Deli & Cafe and Woodruffs Café Stroud. If successful we hope to roll the initiative out across the Stroud District. This is just one of three new signs we’re introducing to help both customers and businesses. Look out for other announcements soon. One of the most common pieces of feedback we receive is how friendly the people of the Stroud District are; not only the public but those in the tourism industry who go the extra mile to ensure you have an amazing and unforgettable visitor experience. A prime example is Dave Paynter from @WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre. What will you do on your next visit to the Stroud District?
