FEASIBILITY: For our commerical clients looking to develop land and property understanding numbers early and quickly is imperative. To help we keep ideas loose and clear so that quick decisions can be made about market opportunities. Here's an example of a sketch scheme we produced for our client in Clacton, which clearly communicates the type and amount of accommodation the site could provide as well as parking and refuse. ITERATIONS: No matter what we're designing we adopt the same level of rigour, regardless. Creating iterations allows us to test, evaluate and refine our designs. This critical part of the process is akin to trying keys in a lock, and we continue until we've found the right one. Unlocking the design and finding the right solution is done through conversation, and it's part of how we evolve those initial ideas and aspirations, incorporating client feedback, research and consultant input towards the ideal solution. CONCEPT: We always model our projects in 3D to help our clients understand our ideas inside and out. In the early stages we produce ‘clay renders’, which help to visualise the space. On Monday we'll be taking over East Sq, Basildon for our workshop, "This is Our Space". This introduction to architecture is aimed at schoolchildren in Basildon and forms part of the month long Creative Tech Fest 2024, and over the course of the day the children will take part in 3 sessions. In the morning they will BUILD a temporary structure in the middle of East Sq. After lunch they will explore the possibilites of the public realm and urban space as a safe place to PLAY. Before finally being invited to reflect on their urban space and their rights to reclaim public areas as they IMAGINE how to create a safer community. A big thank you to Scott Dwomoh, Reece Tapp, Theo Mckay-Cook, Jack Newman, @Cameron Bartaby and Stefania Millan from the architecture degree course at Anglia Ruskin University, as well as Carla Molinari for supporting the project.
