About us
Successful Mums Career Academy is an award-winning training company for mums, offering fully funded career focused, back-to-work and business start-up training. Successful Mums was created in 2014, after seeing first-hand the barriers that mums faced returning to work. Spurred on by a background in coaching and training, Jane Knight embarked on a mission to give one hundred mums the 'kickstart’ they needed to get back to work. It paid off. But didn’t stop there. To date we have supported over 8,500 mums, but that isn’t enough, we want to be there for every mum. Every mum who doesn’t believe in themselves. Every mum who doesn’t know where to start, and every mum who is being held back in their career. Working with local government, entrepreneurs, and Industry specialists we offer bespoke training courses that are relevant to mums. Utilising the skills network learning platform, our in-house team has designed all our resources which have been agreed by primes and awarding organisations. Most importantly our training is accessible and flexible for our learners, they are able to complete the courses in their own time around childcare, with group weekly webinar to bring learners together, and so they can meet like-minded individuals. Successful Mums has secured direct claim status, and we have also been commended for our unique delivery model that is responsive to our client’s needs. We carry out a robust onboarding process and are committed to signposting any the learners that aren’t eligible, so one is left behind. We forge partnerships with employers through our employer parenting project which champions forward-thinking and flexible working and offer a free job board to showcase vacancies and attract our highly skilled mums. We run Women Returners Days for corporates and bring these women to employer’s doors to support equality and inclusion. Throwing it back to 2016 Many years ago, I was featured in the January issue of Good Living Magazine for starting a training company for mums. It's only when we look back at such articles and pictures that you realise the business distance we've travelled, the magnificent progress made and the occasional tear shed along the way. At the time of this article, there were fewer employers offering part-time and flexible work and the word 'hybrid' wasn't even on people’s lips. However almost ten years later, forward-thinking employers understand the benefits of flexible working to attract skilled people. I miss the excitement of being a new business owner and the hundreds of ideas that slowly merged into more concrete plans. Yet on a positive note, this next chapter creates amazing opportunities, alongside a tad more wisdom and a network of amazing people that have partnered with me along the way 💫 And with two teenagers, I miss that clean kitchen too :) #mums #womenreturners #successfulmums

We've helped these mums (and dads) rediscover their career mojo, learn new skills and secure family-friendly jobs. You can read about all 12 mums success stories on our website, but here’s a teaser from Hazel, Maya and Danielle: Hazel was struggling with her next career move. After completing a Successful Mums course, the 51-year-old is now embarking on an exciting new path with confidence. Maya wasn’t sure what to do or where to start. However, after joining our Working in Schools programme and securing a part-time role, she hasn’t looked back. Danielle, who completed our Understanding Autism course, is a perfect example of how our training can positively impact the lives of mums, their careers and their loved ones.
