Many people think that a heart attack and cardiac arrest are the same thing, but they're two different medical emergencies requiring different treatments. 💡 Instructor Tip: When delivering CPR training, clearly explaining the difference between these two medical emergencies helps attendees to more confidently recognise what is actually a cardiac arrest and when CPR is needed. Using real-life analogies—like the one below of comparing a clogged sink to a power outage—can make it easier to understand. Try this in your next session!

  • At Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK we not only provide Peer to Peer support, we also support medical Professionals in their goal to improve aftercare for survivors and key supporters. We continue to work and support The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre on their RESCQ project ....... if this interests you , have a read at the article below https://lnkd.in/d9XEQDd4

We have an active Facebook group with over 3000 members. This provides a safe space for people to discuss SCA related issues , we have a comprehensive website full of informative and supporting material , we have a Conference where survivers can mingle with medical professionals and we also have regional , face to face meet ups . Below is a narrative , talking through one of our structures regional Meet ups in Falkirk Scotland . https://lnkd.in/euqXwhTP

  • Do you have an active professional interest in the recovery / after care of Sudden Cardiac arrest survivers and Key supporters ? If so ..... then our conference is for you ...... For a token fee , you can engage with the best in their field .

📣 📣 Conference alert! 📣 📣 Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK is organizing a conference on Saturday 17th of May in Leonardo Hotel Hinckley Island (between Coventry and Leicester, just off the M1/M6) to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Previous events in 2019 and 2023 were highly successful in bringing together cardiac arrest survivors and their family members from all over the UK, but even more excitingly this year the event also includes an HCP track programme! A draft programme will be circulated shortly, but I can already share with you that Vicky Joshi and I have invited a truly multidisciplinary range of professionals involved in the care of cardiac arrest survivors, from hospital to community - including occupational therapists, nurses, clinical psychologists and paramedics/ emergency medicine doctors from air ambulance trusts (list not exhaustive!) On this day you will: ✅ Be able to network with like-minded clinicians working with cardiac arrest survivors and their families; ✅ Learn more about what services are available for survivors, and how they can contribute to their overall recovery; ✅ Hear real-life examples of how follow-up/care systems have been funded, organized and run in different part of the Country (and further afield) ....all of this for only 10£ (or you can also stay for dinner/entertainment later in the day for £55 altogether!) You can find more information at this link: https://lnkd.in/eCzrNjqX Or scan the QR code in the flyer attached to this post Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any queries. Also, if you or your service are offering a pathway of care for cardiac arrest survivors and their families (even as part of a broader pathway) and you would like to present it on the day, we would be happy to hear from you. Please reshare to your network.

Yesterday morning, DGA Group were delighted to welcome Resuscitation Council UK.   The team received expert CPR training, learning how to effectively respond in emergency situations when dealing with sudden cardiac arrest, as part of RCUK’s ResusReady campaign.   DGA is proud to support Resuscitation Council UK and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Defibrillators, which aims to improve sudden cardiac arrest survival rates by increasing access to defibrillators and expanding CPR training across the UK.   An enormous thank you to the RCUK team for their time and energy!   #ResusReady #CPRTraining

  • We saw this earlier and it resonates for our members who have faced and face adversity on a daily basis . More and more people are surviving out of hospital sudden cardiac arrests ..... but they and those affected by Sudden Cardiac Arrest need support . Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK provides Peer to Peer support through our 3000+ members "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet. "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." "That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to those having a Difficult Day today and hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you...

  • Do you have an active interest in the aftercare of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivers and those affected by Sudden Cardiac Arrest ? Whilst the immediate Critical Care of survivers is often described by our members as exceptional , the aftercare is generally posted as lacking for survivors. For those affected by Sudden Cardiac Arrest , lifesavers , family members , bystanders it is virtually non existent. There are some projects ongoing throughout the UK to tackle this lack of Aftercare which we will highlight over the next few days , however , please take 5 minutes to read and share our article on how we , as a charity are tackling this issue . https://lnkd.in/eG3cC3bw
