About us

Sunny Cycles is a Glasgow-based charity dedicated to making cycling accessible to all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. We provide an inclusive space where everyone can experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of cycling. 🚴♀️💛 Founded by a team of people passionate about cycling, we continue our mission of offering valuable cycling programs to the community. Our goal is to ensure that people of all abilities, including those with disabilities, can enjoy the freedom of cycling. What We Offer: Cycling Lessons: For beginners or those looking to regain confidence. Bike Skills Sessions: Improve cycling technique and road safety skills. Led Rides: Explore Glasgow’s scenic routes in social, inclusive group rides. Volunteering Opportunities: Help support our cycling community through various roles. Specialist Bikes: We offer a wide range of adapted bikes—such as tricycles, velotransporters, and side-by-side cycles—ensuring that everyone, including people with disabilities, can enjoy the joy of cycling. Bike and Helmet Hire: No bike? No problem! We provide bikes and helmets for all. We operate from Glasgow Green and Victoria Park, running regular activities for all ages and abilities, including specialized sessions for older adults and disabled individuals. Our work is made possible with support from The National Lottery Community Fund, Paths for All, Cycling Scotland, and Cycling UK, allowing us to build a more inclusive cycling community. At Sunny Cycles, cycling isn’t just about the ride—it’s about creating a healthier, connected community. Whether you're a first-time rider, experienced cyclist, or volunteer, you’re welcome at Sunny Cycles. Together, we can make Glasgow a more cycle-friendly city.

🌲 12 Highlights of Christmas: Day 1 🌲 Meet Carol, the project manager and heart of Sunny Cycles! Carol keeps the charity running smoothly—scheduling activities, securing funding, and ensuring everything is on track. She also leads our Friday Women’s Rides, inspiring confidence and building community through cycling. ⭐ What’s your favorite part of working at Sunny Cycles? "The people—not just our participants, but also our volunteers, staff, board, and supporters." 🚲 Favorite Bike: The Fun2Go tandem – "It’s so versatile and adaptable for so many." 🗨️ Why is cycling important? "Cycling has been proven to have a positive impact on mental and physical wellbeing, but not everyone has access to a bike. Or knows that a bike exists to suit their needs. This is where we can help." Thank you, Carol, for your dedication and passion—you truly are the driving force behind Sunny Cycles! ✨ #SunnyCycles #CyclingForAll #InclusiveCycling #CommunityCycling #ActiveLiving #CyclingCommunity #GlasgowCycling #MentalHealthMatters #AccessibleCycling #SustainableTransport #WomenInLeadership #CyclingSupport #CharityWork #CyclingScotland #CyclingMotivationCycles #CyclingForAll #InclusiveCycling #CommunityCycling #ActiveLiving #CyclingCommunity #GlasgowCycling #MentalHealthMatters #AccessibleCycling #SustainableTransport #WomenInLeadership #CyclingSupport #CharityWork #CyclingScotland #CyclingMotivation

  • Last Tuesday, Carol and Sandra attended the Paths for All Community Project Learning Event in Glasgow. It was an inspiring day filled with thought-provoking talks and meaningful discussions about the power of active travel and community-driven projects. 🚲 As participants, we gained valuable insights from the speakers and connected with other organizations passionate about making communities healthier and more inclusive. The event sparked ideas that will help Sunny Cycles continue to grow and create lasting impact. A big thank you to Paths for All for organizing such an engaging and informative event. We’re excited to take what we’ve learned and apply it to our mission of making cycling accessible to everyone. 💙

"Carol and I cycled down to All Saints Park - a great, central meeting point in a beautiful civic square outside MMU [Manchester Metropolitan University]. The buzz was electric! Women arrived on organised feeder rides, or on their own - all with a shared excitement, high-vis colours and bagfuls of lights and banners ready to set their bikes up. There was chatter and laughter and bopping to Sister Sledge" A couple of weekends back, our Families Programme Coordinator, Kathrine, and Carol from Sunny Cycles had the pleasure of attending the Lights Up Ride in Manchester where more than 150 cyclists raised awareness of the challenges women face when cycling after dark. The experience left a lasting memory and Katherine has written a blog post about it, which you can read on our website: https://lnkd.in/gQeVADRA The ride was organised by Belinda Everett from Bee Pedal Ready and Anna Smith from Station South who this weekend won the European Capital of Cycling Special Award at the Manchester Sports Awards for their creation of the Rides for Women. Bee Pedal Ready also won the Community Sport Project of the Year Award. We are thrilled to see these fabulous women and projects being recognised for their efforts in making cycling safer and more accessible to women!

This Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Rachael from Paths for All to our Glasgow Green Hub! It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the positive impact of our inclusive cycling programs and the vibrant community that powers Sunny Cycles. Rachael met with our dedicated staff, passionate volunteers, and some of our regular participants, seeing firsthand the difference that accessible cycling can make. She even tried out the Fun2Go bike, joining in as our group set off for their weekly ride! 🚴♀️✨ It’s a reminder of how valuable collaborative support is in helping us make cycling accessible for all abilities, ages, and backgrounds. The backing of partners like Paths for All allows us to enhance our services and ensure our community members can enjoy safe, social, and empowering cycling experiences. Thank you, Rachel, for your visit and for helping us continue to grow our impact in Glasgow. #SunnyCycles #PathsForAll #InclusiveCycling #CommunityImpact #GlasgowCycling #CyclingForAll #CommunityPartnerships #SupportAndRide
